about me

I live in Liverpool, England and have been writing, on and off, for over twenty years. I am now, alas, in my forties.
I have several novels of different types, crime, political thrillers and such like, gathering dust, hopefully never to be read by anyone! This latest offering is unlike my previous book, Marvellous Mavis and the Devolve-o-Meter. That was aimed at the young adult market, this is very much adult. Stories of Moral Turpitude is a work in progress, I have uploaded the first one here called The Hound. It is a very long short story at over 14000 words. It is very strong stuff.

Always back when backed. Often back without leaving comments but will comment if you ask.

Stories of Moral Turpitude

Mal Muirhhead

More stories will be added, but for now here is the first one entitled, The Hound. More to follow

These stories are not for those of a moral disposition. They contain sex, violence and prolonged obscenity. The first story is called The Hound and concerns an unnamed narrator and his obsession with a fat woman that he works with. He wants to assert himself over her, but gets much more than he bargained for. Warning: this is not for anyone who may be easily offended or for anyone who might be offended in any way. I will not respond to criticism that simply states that the reader was offended because you have been warned.

Good stuff Dave. Lovely bounce to your writing and I liked 'saidasked', sums up nicely the annoying habit of ending eveything like a stupid question. Your writing is a welcome antidote to the 'you must listen to me culture' that surrounds us. Or is it that we are getting to old? Mal view book

This treads a very fine balance between the macabre and the humorous, violence even whimsy. Right on the edge of YA perhaps (my previous book on this site was YA) so I'd say it would be perfect for say 15/16 year old boys. And there has to be a market there. One of them must read! I was a little unsure at first about starting with the nightmare sequence but after reflecting upon it I like. Some dreams can linger for a whole day, casting an odd shadow on the day's events and this was like that. It permeates the rest of the narrative. Excellent. Mal view book

Very slick and professional with a great sense of character. Clearly, you are a very fine writer. Reading of the Vermont snows reminded me a little of Donna Tart's 'The Secret History' but only in the way you evoke the savage beauty of the weather. The rest is clearly you. Good luck with it. Very well written and very funny. Comedy, in my very humble opinion, is the most difficult genre to write. But this nails is. Mal view book
