about me

Currently seeking representation.
My name is Krystiana Stacy Kelly. My Authonomy submission is a mystery based very loosely on my experience in an earthquake. The book is fiction but contains elements of the real horror of going through a natural disaster.

I'd love to get comments on some of the later chapters, and I will try to comment on your book, but apologize in advance if I don't. I'm juggling my time in order to revise Surviving the Earthquake to be its best.

I was in an earthquake in Ica, Peru in 2007. Now, 2-1/2 years later, the town is not much better than it was right after. I'm hoping to generate attention to disaster sites years after the media have gone on to other items.
I will always respond and reciprocate to backings.

Surviving the Earthquake

Krystiana Stacy Kelly

Tamara sees her aunt being murdered during a powerful earthquake. As she struggles through the natural disaster she may become the killer’s next victim.

Tamara Villanueva, originally from an impoverished town and now a struggling artist in Chicago, has a certain cheerful naïveté that has always helped her through rough patches. But when she goes back to her small hometown in southern Peru, that optimism is challenged. During a massive earthquake that she’s caught in while she’s there, she watches as someone murders her aunt.

When the earthquake is over and the shell-shocked town sits around the next morning not knowing exactly what to do, she cannot seem to convince anyone that her aunt died of anything but natural causes.

The next few months take her on an intercontinental journey of truth seeking. While interviewing the people who knew her aunt best she discovers a rift of corruption decades old that will now threaten the progress and reconstruction of her town. She witnesses the toll, both physical and mental, that the earthquake has taken in ways that a newspaper article could never convey. She needs to decide if the answers she’s looking for will lead to justice - or destroy an already devastated town further.

Very well written and I like how the issue of truth is so important to the main character. If I were to have to give some constructive criticism - in your prologue you did a wonderful job with rewording when you talk about "to tell you the truth... which ties back to the beginning" but then you rep... view book

The first chapter is incredibly gripping; I feel that I have to read on. The first few paragraphs are an immediate hook and I want to know what / who the girl is and where she's taking him. Great writing style too. Krystiana Surviving the Earthquake view book
