The Kingdom of Eastern Vallis is a pleasant one with little enemies. When the king dies by the hand of his own royal advisor his daughter, the forsaken princess, must journey to find her long lost brother and to save her kingdom from destruction. Along the way she is being courted still by her life long friend, Arwan, and a handsome young knight named Vorthus, who is also the son of the man who killed her father.
When the group encounters some tribulations along the road they are forced to take shelter in another king's castle. This king, Vladimir, is more cunning and manipulative than the other men and also takes a stab at winning Eilonwyn's heart. All the while Eilonwyn is still undecided about who should take the throne, her brother and his wife, or her and one of her three suitors.
