A tempestuous love story of two couples that stretches across the centuries, from the Great Irish Famine of 1840’s to the present day.

It is 1846, the potato blight reaches Ireland, famine strikes, hundreds of thousands on the vast estates are starving.
Muireann and Lord Donale heir to Rhonan’s vast estates are lovers. As Muireann is the penniless ward of the Earl of Rhonan, to reveal their love would be to incur his wrath and the scorn of society. They plan to flee the country to start a new life on Donale’s huge estate in Jamaica, bequeathed to him by his grandfather. As the famine known as the Great Hunger rages, Donale’s father The Earl of Rhonan refuses to give food or aid to his peasants. Muireann and Donale know they have no choice but to remain and fight for the lives of the victims.
In the present, a young American, Dr. Jessica Mirren, owner of a chain of hotels stretching across America, visits Rhonan Manor Hotel, and meets the present Earl of Rhonan, the brooding Lord Daragh. She recognizes him as the man in her recurring dreams.
Deeply attracted to each other their affair is shattered by hauntings in Rhonan Manor as they begin to unravel the disappearance of the doomed lovers, in 1848.

This is a book that reaches the heart. So many sufferers go unvalidated, unrecognized for their courage and perseverance. It shows the strength of the human spirit, the love and faith in the power of love, a faith that singled out Victor Frankl as one of the greatest existential psychologists - t... view book

I love classical fiction. This is proving to be an absorbing read as I love music and the opera of the 1800's. You have researched so well. It is haunting, intriguing and one I wanted to read more. The prose flows and the pace is fast. Your characters are strong and visual. This is one ... view book

This is fast paced from the first paragraph of the Prologue. I am impressed with the prose and the alliteration, i.e. 'hide the hulking hound ethe hulking hound...' The interior dialogue of Dahlia was clever driving the plot forward and giving mini flashbacks grounding the story. The characte... view book

These are charming and will appeal to a wide range of childrens' age bands. The opening story on the ducks was really charming and would excite any three to four year whilst Kris and the Giant Leek are more suited to six and seven years. Squeak and Spke were lovely. This would suit a family of ... view book
