about me

Born in Belfast N.I in 1939, attended a total of 15 schools. Served in the Royal Navy Submarine Service. Immigrated to Canada 1967, married a Prince Edward Island girl in 1971. We have two grown daughters. Today we are retired and living on our 15 acre hobby farm in Ebenezer PE. Our livestock consist of two dogs and two cats.
My life long hobby was restoring Rover and other British cars, but as I aged it grew more difficult to work under a car on cold concrete. In 2000 I began my first book and self published in 2004, my second book was published in 2009. Writing is a wonderful hobby and certainly more comfortable than working on an old rusty car. I'm about to begin the next book once winter sets in again.

THE ROYAL NAVY& ME

FREDERICK RODGERS

The adventures of a young sailor who joined the Royal Navy age the age of 15 and served for twelve years.

The story is told through the eyes of a young sailor who joined the Royal Navy in 1955 as a Boy Seaman 2nd class, the absolute lowest rank in the Navy. Follow his induction at HMS Ganges, the toughest boys training establishment in England, if not the world, and his first assignment to HMS Cockade in time to visit Australia for the opening of the 1956 Olympic Games. This is a thoroughly amusing tale, tempered with dark moments of dispair as he visits islands in the South Pacific, tours Hong Kong,Korea and Japan, passes through the Suez Canal en-route to Malta and Gibraltar. Patrols Iceland during the Cod Wars, and plunges to crush depth aboard a submarine. This is a voyage not to be missed

I appreciate that you took the time to look at my book, sorry it didn't hit the mark for you,. We all have deferring opinions of what is good or bad. I don't necessarily agree with your comments, indeed I have had some very positive remarks about the book from readers not of a Naval background. I ha... view book
