about me

Over centuries literary laureates have strive to find the borderline between poetry and prose. But there are even further complications as prose poetry slips into the picture. To unravel this complexities, Joe Adu-Gyamfi took a further voyage down into the last bottom of these three bewilderingly related genres to bring a theoretical and philosophical touch to the mystery--just to put the reader out of his misery.

The French poet Paul Valéry said that prose was walking, poetry dancing---so what then is prose poem doing? Isn’t is it dancing and walking at the same time????

Joe was born in 1982 in the Eastern Region of Ghana. His freelance activities covers journalism, writing, publishing, teaching and music. Joe is currently a student of University of Ghana.

THE BEAUTIFUL STORY THAT WAS N....

Joe Adu-Gyamfi

THE BEAUTIFUL STORY THAT WAS NEVER TOLD--It is just a poem of one stanza. Read it and cry.

This collection is the author’s first work in poetry. The poems bring to mind the poignant moments of life from the writer's childhood to today. The tones of the poems are set in high emotional level--emotions that are inspired by love, nature, grief, injustice, mystery, beauty, remorse, loss and admiration.

In all, the collection contains 39-poems categorized into;
Narratives--The Beautiful Story That Was Never Told/ The Stranger
Elegies --It Tears Me Down, I Told You I Was Sick, Etc
Writers’ poems--Challenges of a Writer
Figurative--The Eyes of Dora
Political/historical--Don’t Trust Risky
Motivational--What Do You See
Society-- The Arrow, Racism, Etc
Ode--Ghana’s Favourite Hometown

In-the-poem the ‘Stranger’, Joe Adu-Gyamfi strives to solve the complexity of the difference between poetry and prose, but unlike T.S. Eliot, Robert Frost,Ben Jonson and-Paul Valéry, he didn't add to the mystery but walks the talk by authoring one piece in both poetry and prose to allow the independent-minded-reader to judge.

In "Challenges of a Writer", he sums up in few words the numerous challenges writers face. He goes further to motivate writers in another piece--titled: 'A-Great-Writer--Who-is-He' and complement it with 'A Poet's Last Poem'.

Herbivore City

Joe Adu-Gyamfi

Home is not very far away, but under the cunning eyes of merciless carnivores, it could mean a week-long journey for a little lost sheep.

HerbivoreCity is a fable filled with interesting animal characters which follows a family of herbivores as they struggle for survival.

It opens with Mrs. Sheep wondering how she will ever be able to find food for her hungry family. Reticent to do so, she allows them to go out and hunt for food. None of them find enough. They begin their journey back home, yet before they can make it back, Tinny, the youngest falls into a pit and is lost. During her stay in the pit, she sings songs in order to keep the monsters (in her mind) at bay. Yet early the next morning, real monsters are there--other animals waiting to feast on her. With a bit of luck she finally escapes and became the darling of Herbitown.

The rest of the tale follows Tinny as she encounters two difficult problems-from both her family and town. But Herbitown itself faces two grave dangers: the invasion of the carnivores, and the cruel alien dragon whose killing for food programme threatens the animals with extinction. Surely, life in Herbitown is never going to be free and easy again.
