about me

UPDATE: If I owe you a read please remind me. I'm taking care of my elderly mum who broke her hip and my brain is dizzy... I'll check in as often as I can.

In the early 2000s two of my books were published by small presses (now out of print).

I am a personal historian - assisting the famous and not so famous write their memoirs.

I'm not fond of spam, but swap requests are fine. However, I've read (and sometimes backed) numerous books with no reciprocation. So I ask for commitment up front. If you ask first and I agree, you go first.

I leave books on my shelf for at least two days.

I'm not great at giving reviews but I try to be honest. I'd love to hear what you think of my story - but please don't rip into it. There's not a lot about the plot that I'm willing to change!

Favorite genres include interesting biographies, historical fiction and multicultural settings. I'm not keen on vampires, demons, witchcraft, blasphemy, and such. But I'll do my best if you ask.

Blatant spelling mistakes turn me off!

Married to my soul mate and live in the amazing US. We have two awesome children…

India is about to celebrate independence. As the country is split in two, religious differences tear apart friends and families.

It is December 1946 – the British Raj is coming to an end. Law and order has broken down. Racial tension between Hindus and Muslims is boiling over. An English girl, still in her teens, is abducted and then sold into a brothel. She endures unspeakable cruelty and humiliation from her captors. She escapes. A man comes to her aid. Will he be like the others? Read Honoria’s poignant story.

The manuscript is complete at 95,000 words but still undergoing editing. I have uploaded the first 8 chapters

Emma – What more can I add to the reviews you have received? In the specialized world of Historical Fiction, you have created your very own territory. An enthralling story which draws you in from the first page. You are wonderful writer, able to bring your characters to life. You have the ability to... view book

Colin I am very impressed with your writing. The language is simple. The narration is subtle. The characters are very real and display emotions and feelings everyone can identify with. The power of your stories is apparent as one is reading. One chokes up every once in a while, one smiles for hours... view book

Helen - It is always cause for celebration when an author bursts on the scene with an original and hard to put down novel that is bound to capture attention. I am a picky reader when it comes to writing style and I particularly like the way that you handle prose and dialogue. You have used similies ... view book

Dear Sharda I read the first two chapters. Tears welled up in my eyes – very unusual for me. I will return to read more because I am still thinking about the characters and the storyline. Somehow I cannot get them out of my head… That is definitely a sign of a good story, especially for picky reade... view book
