about me

I've devoured books since I was four. There isn't any better way to describe my love of reading. Before that, I demanded they be read to me and I would memorize my favorite stories. I have written here and there since primary school but this is the first time I've shared my writing.

My writing has always been a bit on the darker side which is odd because I'm a very happy, sensible and optimistic person. I suppose that everyone has a flip side to their coin, and mine is writing.

SICK is not for the faint of heart and, as I recently said in a comment, I've never been much for wrapping my writing in a pretty bow. I'm anxious to see what people will think of my work in progress and I'm curious to see how I can improve it. Please keep in mind that SICK is completely unedited. This is only a first draft updated only once from the initial writing.

I tend to write out of order and so it's the middle of SICK that I'm still working on. I've posted the prologue, the first four chapters, the final chapter and the epilogue.

I'm new to Authonomy and I'm trying to catch up with messages, backings, etcetera and so I'd just like to say how much I appreciate the feedback, comments, encouragement (Both for my writing and my personal well being.), the shelving, watchlisting and backings. This feels like quite a positive environment that I'm excited to be a part of.

NEW NOTE: I'm really trying to stay caught up with the messages and returning reads, etc... but if I miss returning a message or read, please, please, take pity on the new girl here and send me another message! ;)

Sick

Dusty Mills

Forced to relive his past daily, Allen longs for the only reprieve that can be found. Death.

Locked in a mental ward in a catatonic, schizophrenic state, Allen longs for death to end the uncontrollable visions of his atrocious past and relieve him of the grief and regret that plagues his very existence. These memories control his mind, forcing him to see with clarity the dysfunction, destruction and death that he left in his wake.

Allen’s visions chronicle the downward spiral of a mentally ill victim of abuse, alcoholism and drug addiction. While his grief sends him further into the abyss of hallucinatory catatonia, the ward around him begins to shred into a violent anarchy. Will he survive his visions? Will he survive the ward or will his wish be granted and death will take him?

The first chapter is quite catching. I have backed it on that and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of it soon! -Dusty Sick view book

I agree with TobyC that this offers crossover appeal. I was intially attracted to the cover art (which, btw: has me scouring for knitting patterns...) and put it on my WL because the pitch drew me in and I when I sat down to read it I didn't get up until I'd finished and all I can say is that I wan... view book

Riveting… enthralling… captivating… In other words: Right up my alley and well done! Your writing has a wonderful flow that moves with the characters and the situations in such an impressive way. I can't wait to finish more of this book! Dusty Sick view book
