Your beginning is a bit risky. When you start a piece of fiction with something like weather or a person waking up, it's going to turn some people off. I don't believe in firm rules when it comes to writing, but plenty of people do. It'll give those people an excuse to dismiss your writing before it... view book

First, let me say that I think the cover for this is amazing. I'd definitely put it in the top five of covers on Authonomy. It's gorgeous and fits the book well, I think. Your first chapter is exactly what a first chapter should be. The beginning is attention-grabbing, we're told just enough about the situation and the MC to get us really interested, and by the end it evokes emotion.
