about me
I never know what to put into boxes that are titled ‘about me’. Here goes nothing, I’m a young woman in her early to mid twenties, depending on how often I update this profile. I’ve had a love affair with writing for nearly eleven years now. I’ve had a love affair with stories for much longer. I’m a mix of a lot of things, I like role playing games and wasting all day on the internet, I love reading, and just sitting in a room listening to people talk.
I craft: everything from knitting to jewelry making and carpentry. I don’t consider myself a very confrontational person but I am more than ready to stand up for my opinions and what I believe in. I think reading is the most important skill a person could have and a good library does more for a kid than some schools do. I used to LOVE Reading Rainbow and Wishbone when I was a kid.
I love talking about writing nearly as much as the act itself and I look forward to making connections with the community here on Authonomy. I can only hope it will leave my writing much better for the experience.
favourite books
“Favorite published books” is a hard category to delve into but I’ll give it a shot.
My favorite book of all time is THE RED TENT by ANITA DIAMANT. It’s a lovely historical novel set in the biblical era of Jacob. The story is that of Jacob’s only daughter and her mothers. It’s got some strong feminist themes, but I really like it for the voice of the characters. It makes the time period come alive and seem very accessible for a modern reader.
After that there are THE DRESDEN FILES and THE CODEX ALERA books by JIM BUTCHER. I am super picky when it comes to fantasy, but Butcher gets me every time. Both series are wonderful and unique. His worlds are different and he shows them beautifully while telling compelling stories.
I also adore the work of JOHN GREEN, JULIE ANNE PETERS, MAUREEN JOHNSON, SUZANNE COLLINS, RAY BRADBURY, and L FRANK BAUM.
I read tons of young adult novels as well as a good assortment of classics, contemporary fantasy and science fiction, and mysteries.
