about me

Katia Bassett was born in a small town in Russia. At the age of ten, Katia wrote a science fiction novel about a group of college students fighting off an invasion of purple-faced aliens. Her parents smiled kindly and advised Katia to get her head out of the clouds. Thus, her path as an aspiring writer remained obscured for the time being. She came to the United States to pursue undergraduate, and then graduate studies in cancer research. Katia crafted the plot of her first novel, A Mouthful of Ashes, while writing her doctoral dissertation. To this day, she notes that her most exciting ideas find her when she has the least time to act on them.

"And how do you want someone intellectually." How do you NOT! Terry, you nailed it. I've been struggling with just this question for a couple of years now. You're right. It is so much harder than just plain wanting someone physically and emotionally. It's harder to walk away from them. Nearly... view book

Hi Heidi, Effortless prose and an intriguing premise! Probably not far from reality, either, as I've heard somewhere that red hair is a recessive gene, and will disappear from the population (supposedly) within a few generations. So it makes sense that someone out there would want to protect it! ... view book

Hi Terry, Betrayal was my tonight's read... It's just sadness, this transparent, almost visible sadness. I've never heard anyone speak so sincerely about a love that never quite blossomed and never quite materialized, but yet was there all the time. If you solved the mystery of what makes love ... view book

Terry, hi - and I Know What You Mean. I just read Intentions. Lyrical writing. Totally inside the character's mind. So engrossed that the reader might as well be HIM. Wait, I think I just realized that we don't even know his name. Unless I missed it. But even so, it doesn't matter. So beauti... view book

Hi Alice, This is exactly my kind of story! A backdrop of scientific research, a herione troubled by her mother, and an unresloved love affair! I read two chapters in one breath, and am backing it immediately. Eva is a very sympathetic character, I just want to nudge her and say, go find Benedic... view book
