about me
Thanks to Bradley Wind for my new cover. It is a merging of mandalas. Much as my book is a merging of living and not living. What happened to me will happen to you...what I saw changed me for the better. I have no illusions that I can change a closed mind, but I have to try.
Learn to spell, learn to punctuate. Commas are subjective as no two readers read the same thing in the same way. Sometimes, you just have to use "I" a lot. Imagine your story first. Daydream your story until it makes you excited and happy. Write your story using any words, in any order to make your story a personal work. Reread it, over and over again. See that your words paint the picture you want a reader to see. If you offer it to the world expect not everyone will see your picture, not everyone will like it. You can never please everyone and there is always someone who wants to change the color or the scene on your canvas.
It may never sell, but it is your work and imagination in prose. Part of you is in writing. Print it out, start a binder library of your personal work, then invite others to add their works to yours. Start a family collection you can share with anyone who wants to see what you had to say. Years from now, someone may read it and think to themselves what a wonderful woman my grandmother was. They may take your story and make it their own. It might inspire them to leave a story of their own for others to read. In the long run leave your own words, in your own colors. Avoid letting your work be changed and remolded into something someone else wants it to be. What is the point of all books and stories being forced to fit into a few peoples' idea of what all books and stories must be to be imortalized?
Getting published is almost accidental. The book appeals to one editor somewhere on a particular day. Send out your work as often as you wish, hoping to find that one man or woman who "was just in the mood that day." Then go buy a lottery ticket. Sooner or later you will get lucky...somehow. If not, remember that writing makes you happy, it does me, and just being happy can be a reward in itself.
It may well be this site is of little use to actually get published, but just to have this place to post my work and have others see it, even if they only pretend to read it, is still good for one's self image.
I got some wrong advice when I got started here, Please don't ask me to back you for backing me...I have only five books out of maybe 10,000 I am allowed to back. When I do, I will stick to them for as long as it takes to make a difference. I will have to like them first.
As for my book. It is good, and well written. It is sad that it "bothers" people because it is controversial and non-conforming.
All I ask for is an open mind. The possibilities of eternity are endless. Everyone insists they are right, they can't ALL be right...so just maybe...they are ALL wrong... including you! Maybe me too....
