about me

Firstly, sorry about the use of some type of Antelope(Thanks Margaret) as my profile picture, but it beats my one and only on-line picture of me!
The picture in question was taken by my daughter, as I slept peacefully on the balcony of a Spanish apartment, sweating and bloated after a drinking binge. Not a pretty sight at all!

Anyway, I digress.

By day, I am warehouse manager and by night, when I can get access to my laptop, I am a novice writer....of the most novice type! My novel is a piece of fiction that has been inspired by certain events in my life so far and is called Who cares?. I have around the 10,000 words needed to make my first double handful of chapters available for you lovely people to peruse. I even know how the middle of the book will pan out, and believe it or not, I have two endings to choose from (When I eventually get that far!).

I have been engrossed by this site, ever since my wife stumbled across it a couple of days ago, after reading about it in some glossy magazine article. I have already read some fantastic pieces of writing from many contributors, and have also seen some quite nasty comments as well. All I ask, as the most novice of novice writer's, is go gentle with me if you feel the need to comment about me (Hoping that some people might actually be interested in reading my story, of course?).

I know that there will be errors in grammar, verb abuses (Even though I still can't work out what that statement actually means!) and the odd cockney saying that some people might find annoying? I will not be offended by genuine, well meant criticism, but if it is personal I will send my daughter and her mates round to sort you out!

Thank you.

Ray Leigh.

Who Cares?

Ray Leigh

According to Frankie Taylor's wife, Katy, he cares too much!
But, unfortunately for Katy, it was Frank's clients who benefited from the attention, not her.

As the senior welfare officer for the Progress Group, Frankie could not just turn off his emotions at the end of the working day. He supported some of the most needy and desperate clients that anybody could imagine, and they had issues that could raise their ugly head's at anytime of the day, or night.

After a bitter and emotional divorce, Frankie's life stagnated, whilst Katy found solace in the arms of a nightclub owner, ten years' her junior. And miraculously, after three failed IVF attempts with Frankie during their ten year marraige, this young stud manages to impregnate her newly receptive, and fertile eggs.

Frankie wasn't devastated by the news, far from it. Demons had lurked within the inner recesses' of his brain since the divorce and the news of his ex-wife's impending pregnancy finally allowed him total closure. And then, as if by magic, his own circumstances change overnight.

The Progress Group win a major contract on reputation, Frankie's reputation. He then befriends a social worker called Amy Carter, who for a multitude of reasons becomes an integral part of his life, both socially and professionally.

Who cares is dedicated to all the Frankie Taylors of this world!
