about me

My name is Dana. I'm 25 years old. I'm a single mom of two children, both adopted. My little boy is 2 1/2 and named Connor. My daughter is 5 months old and named Fiona. I also have two furballs, one who is a 14 year old male pug named Wembley and the other a 4 year old cat named Rae.
I love to cook and eat, I like hiking and camping. I'm vegetarian and love most things to do with animals. I love anime and comic books. I'm your classic nerd, I suppose...
The first story I ever wrote was when I was in 2nd grade called The Earthscrapers. It was about a misfit group of kids who scraped the earth clean in an effort to stop Global Warming. Looking back, I laugh at the story... and I love that my interests started so young.
I dabbled with writing lots of incomplete stories as I reached my teens, but never had the passion to finish any of them. When my exhusband was deployed in 2007, I was so distraught that I sought to escape my worries: that was how I wrote my first book, Sweet December (which was kind of funny because I went back to read the manuscript a few months ago and it was HORRIBLE).
Once I realized that, with the right kind of inspiration, I could finish an entire book, the goal was just to find something I was passionate enough to write about. Enter vampires.
I've always been intrigued by vampires, almost to the point of obsessive when I pick 95% of books having to do with vampires.
In 2008, I started to write Claerwen. I finished it in 5 months. I honestly feel that it is a GOOD book.
In 2009, I wrote Madison of Edaeria. I think this book is even better, so that is currently the one I am actively editing and trying to publish.
I will be backing 5 books a day if possible. I will back most books because I think it's awesome that you've managed to come up with a storyline - but will probably only write a review if it's something I like. This doesn't mean the book is bad; it simply means it's not something I'd read. I am no good at giving editing advice (which you might be able to tell by the state of my book) so my 'review' will probably just be an opinion on the book :)
If you like my books, back them. If you don't like them, email me and tell me why. If you think they could be improved, review it and tell me how.
I love to read anything fantasy-like - ESPECIALLY vampires!!

I am seeking representation for Claerwen and Madison of Edaeria and can be reached at danashamsters@hotmail.com. Thanks!

I'm going to have to say that I really enjoyed the Gardella series - followed by the Vampire Academy series. And I've got a new love for the Mortal Instruments series.

Madison of Edaeria

Danielle McColgin

An orphan who has been alone for most of her life is suddenly introduced by her parents - and then kidnapped to an alternate dimension.

Madison Edaeria was found by herself when she was three years old. Hardened by loneliness and a cruel world, she forms an attachment to only one person - her boyfriend, Derik. That is, until the day her parents show up and kidnap her into their world.
Maddie discovers, in this world, that she is not Madison Edaeria but Madison *of* Edaeria, a mirror world where everything is mirrored, including her. She is introduced to her mirror image, her twin sister Illiana, and discovers that they are both Princesses to the throne of Edaeria. Maddie is forced to remain in this world while her sister is sent back to Earth, Illiana posing as Maddie and Maddie posing as Illiana.
In this world, Maddie gets to know her birth parents. She learns the beauty of an untainted world with magics - and nightmares: packs of werewolves, vampires, unicorns, hippgriffs, abassy and many other things. She finds that the love of her life, Derik is a man named Daerin in this world and he is her private Knight, the one who is sworn to protect her.
Can Maddie save Edaeria - and in doing so, save Earth?

Lol... I like this. It's descriptive enough to keep me reading, but it's about frogs - which, by the way, are my FAVORITE animal! I hope to see this published someday so that my son and daughter can read it! view book

This is something I'd read. It's perfect, in my less-than-perfect opinion. Good job! view book

Cute book. I would like to read more. Some tips I have might be to be a little more descriptive (was sick on my best school shirt = with a slight heaving of his chest that was altogether too familiar, the smell of vomit wafted to my nose. When I looked down, sure enough, a wet stain was in plain sig... view book

This book seems pretty well edited. I am definitely NOT someone who knows much about the subject, but even I can point out small errors - and so far haven't seen many. The story is strong and the characters are likable. Good job! view book
