about me

This is Ame.

She likes to smile, laugh, argue and enjoy a glass of wine. In another life-time she achieved a Master's Degree from Cambridge(Uk). These days her interests are more down-to-earth and she often goes out with her camera to frame the idea of some kind of balance in a shape-shifting world of fleeting images.

She also loves to play with words, install meaning and complexity, write unusual poems and devise a complicated plot laced with metaphysical qualities.
When the right moment fills her pen and inspires her keyboard, she endeavours to touch on the essence of life as well as ringing bells and blowing whistles. Different facets of love are woven into her stories .

Two of her books are uploaded on this site.

'Normsville Knot' is an allegorical tale, a melange of fact, fiction, history and social experience.
(Full Trilogy = 200.000 words, available on her website.)

And if philosophy, allegory and fantasy fables are not for you, -
Ame has uploaded a few chapters of another book, 'Wolfmother in White'. It contains stories from raw reality lived on the edge outside the usual safety net of European society.

A big 'Thank you' to my friends for continued encouragement and support!

Wolfmother in White

Ame Wren

A young mother struggles to survive in the red-light district in Amsterdam where poverty and chaos lie hidden behind a beautiful facade.

This story offers an insight into a woman's heartaches and difficulties living amongst addiction and greed in the centre of a vibrant metropolis. She has to provide an income for her family while living only yards away from the famous windows and dealer-dens. Selling her body is not an option. Her husband works where he can, in order to provide a nest for the family, but jobs are scarce.

The tide is against her. Having exhausted other possibilities of making an honest living, the decline into offering her premises as a local 'shooting gallery' proves the unavoidable next step into an abyss from where there seems no return. Another baby is on the way. How will she cope?

NORMSVILLE KNOT - (Bear Essen....

Ame Wren

A fairytale : Living and surviving in a deceitful town.

Fable and Odyssey for the 21st century.

In this tale animals play actors in a life- drama. The field is Normsville, a lively market town with meaningful monuments and nightly secrets where our hero, T. O. Bear lives in a comfortable house as a successful business man.
But one thing is wrong . . . His fur. It is partially white, making him look like a Panda and leaving him with a dubious reputation as victim of prejudice and ridicule. He is unaware that his name is TAO.

During three 24-hour journeys his own background and upbringing are revealed, as well as the true history and tarnished legacy of his town. The uploaded Book 1 takes the reader through youth and early romance, and then embarks on a path of growing maturity. All this is reflected against a frame of Emily making tea, reading to her toys and suffering pangs of loneliness.

The journeys lead through a land of allegorical images. Normal human experiences guide the storyline, and while the backdrop of urban life creates a mellow scenery, it is also the place where twisted history, greed and corruption find ample breeding ground.

Hi Isoje, I read a couple of chapters. Interesting thoughts, nice, punchy expressions. There is some great feeling of energy and enthusiasm. I also liked your metaphysical images. Best wishes Ame view book

Hi Juli, I found this a highly recommendable read, not only for the two MCs' alternating views, which give a balanced perspective about birth and death experienced in different ways by male and female, but also for the deep insights into the life of a grieving couple who are being given another cha... view book

Hi Kenneth, I read 1-4 and found your writing very interesting and informative as well as sensitive and moving. The descriptions of places, history, clothes and cultural differences pulled a few heart-strings and my memory was tickled, as I have lived in Japan many years ago and felt quite familia... view book

Hi Sue, thank you for asking me to read your book. I was enchanted, not only by the story-telling, but by the humour, the timeless perspective, the turn-around view and the street-cred attitude. What a lovely collection you have compiled, original and well written to boot. My compliments to a vivid ... view book

Hi Adam, I read a few chapters and found your book very pleasant, although I don't buy the out-of-this-world spirituality. In my view it's called 'falling in love', and this experience is open to anyone, even if they don't believe. The rain falls on the just and the unjust, right? However, I'm gla... view book
