about me

I am an award winning staff writer for the Philadelphia Tribune, the nation's oldest, continually published African American newspaper. Although I am a general assignment reporter my beat is crime and needless to say, there is no shortage of stories.

I am a self-published author who has released his first novel, entitled Blood Born - The First Book of Lost Souls.

Cover art by: Marvin Dozier

I've only downloaded sample chapters of Blood Born. Available through the publisher Hollis Media and Amazon. The chapters posted on this site represents the re-written version of Blood Born.

I'm on this site in an effort to get published by a main stream house. I back what I like and I expect the same courtesy. I'm open and honest with my critiques and again, I expect the same. I understand if it takes awhile, we've all got "day jobs."

Blood Born - The First Book of....

Larry Miller

Jesse Ross - unwilling vampire - destined to be the key player in a war to enslave humanity.

Dreams of vampires, a nameless beauty and a sudden need for cheap sunglasses - what is happening to Jesse Ross?

Jesse has hit a mid-life crisis where whiskey has become his best friend. But why is his body changing? His eyes become sensitive to sunlight and food makes him ill. When he sleeps, he dreams of superior beings - the Blood Born.

One night at a local bar the nameless dark-haired beauty of his dreams enters his world. Her name is Sabrine and she is one of the vampires. He learns he is an inheritor; born human but changing into a vampire and it is his destiny to become the Prodigy, who will possess all of the deadly gifts of the Blood Born. Jesse is descended from a hidden blood-line that offers him a future that will forever change the world - for the Long Night is coming - the age of darkness when the vampires will rule the earth.

Will he lead the vampires in a war to enslave humanity or start his own war to save mankind and himself?

MDWS77: I read through seven chapters of you novel. You have an interesting concept but I think your story suffers from a lack of character development. Simply put, while you narrative is detailed and descriptive there is virtually no interaction between your characters. There was some, between Y... view book

Thank you Lacy. So far, everyone who has read this story likes it. The typos seem to be part of a conspiracy; I catch them, fix them but when I download I find new ones. Maybe there's something in the format, I don't know. But I'll get the ones you pointed out and thanks. As a Biblical scholar a... view book

Hi J.C. Of course, my crtique is just my own opinions. I rarely waste time pointing out punctuation, spelling and syntax errors. A Trained writer I think already knows where they are without having some nit-picker point a finger here and there. I think you've obviously that. Interesting pitch an... view book

Hi Lacy, When I read your pitch i thought this story would be pretty well-written and you didn't disappoint me. It's obvious that you're an accomplished writer who has spent a lot of time learning how to craft a story. As an avid listener of Focus on the Family I hear a lot of teaching on the p... view book
