about me

I enjoy reading, music, and photography in addition to writing. I have been writing as long as I can remember and hope to make a living at it someday, but I am my own worst critic. Thoughtful and constructive criticism is much appreciated!

I currently have several books on my watchlist that I'm trying to make it through in my limited free time. If I agree to a read swap, it may take me a while, but I'll get to it eventually.

The Lokana Chronicles is complete at 90,928 words, but only a portion of it is posted as I am in the midst of editing my work. As such, I may not have the most recent edits uploaded, but I've gotten so many wonderful comments here that I'm trying to put them to good use.

Also, a big thank you to Bradley Wind is in order for the wonderful cover he created for my book. Thank you!

favourite books

Perhaps my all-time favorite book is Time Enough for Drums by Ann Rinaldi. I also enjoy Jane Austen's and Charles Dickens' novels; Tom Jones by Henry Fielding; and Evelina, or the History of a Young Lady's Entrance into the World by Fanny Burney.

The Lokana Chronicles

Kay Kauffman

One man longs to transform his kingdom. One woman has the power to do so. Together, they just might succeed.

Drought, famine, and corruption have left the kingdom of Lokana in turmoil. Vegin, as heir to the throne, is tormented by his inability to help his people and, after a chance encounter with a beautiful Outlier, feels even more discouraged than ever. If he can’t convince this one young woman of his desire for change, how will he ever convince the rest of the kingdom?

Chaos ensues as the prince and the Outlier are married. Spurred on by tragedy, they work to improve the lives of the people. But just as they begin to make progress, disaster strikes.

Suddenly they all died. The e....

A collection of short stories that will make you laugh, cry, and groan, perhaps all within the same story.

Taken from my blog, these are short stories I wrote to pass the time. Some of them are related, but most of them are stand-alone pieces. All deal with love – love found, love lost, love found again. Occasionally everyone dies.

Fi! I'm glad to see this is the one you posted and I can't wait to read the rest of it (I think the last time I saw it, there were only six chapters). Have fun here! view book

Hello, Sam! I finally managed to read through the first three chapters and wanted to leave my thoughts. Take or leave them at will. Ch. 1 “I used to bring a small knife to protect myself, but once I’d seen it was impossible to get attacked here, I now didn’t bother.” – This reads funny to me, ... view book

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, but in glancing through some of the earlier comments on the work, I feel I must agree with K A Smith's note about the relationship between Diogo and his father. I thought the whole tone of the story felt older than late nineteenth century, particularly with the stor... view book

Good evening (or good morning, in my case), Sir Dream Catcher! I've got an Alliance crit for you. As it's rather late and I'm tired, I only read the prologue and chapter one, but I can have a look at later chapters if you'd like once I've gotten forty winks or so. As always, please take with as m... view book

Hello, there, I've got an Alliance of Worldbuilders crit for you! As usual, take with as much salt as desired. I read the first four chapters and really enjoyed what I read. However, I feel that maybe you spend a little bit too much time and effort describing the setting - so much time is spent... view book
