about me

Website designer, programmer, writer and, sometimes, genius. I have been living in Madrid since summer 2007 after 13 years of mayhem in Dubai.

RETURN READS
I will read anything that catches my interest. I will always return read anyone who comments on my books. (I would also hope that anyone I comment on would return the favour). I will back books that I like or that I think have potential. I give very short reviews, but reserve the right to go on at length about spelling, punctuation and grammar. I hardly ever bite, though. If you ask me for a read-swap, I expect you to go first. If you back me without bothering to leave a comment or message, the chances are very high that I won't notice your 'generosity': accordingly, you'll get nowt back from me.

Tybalt & Theo

Keef Williamson

Theo is a merchant banker in recession-hit 2008. Tybalt is a condemned criminal in 1608. In a freak accident, they exchange places.

Theo has just lost 97 million pounds that wasn't his. It belonged to his bank. The global finance industry is in meltdown. Unemployment looks imminent.

A chance accident sends him hurtling towards certain death at Newgate Underground station, but instead of the afterlife he finds himself in 1608.

At the same time, Tybalt finds himself propelled forward to 2008 into a world quite beyond his understanding. He discovers the dubious delights of fast food, appears on stage at the Globe and completely fails to find his good friend Will Shakspere.

Back in 1608, Theo finds himself almost hanged for stealing a loaf of bread, lined up to assassinate King James, and building himself a new life.

Can Tybalt and Theo find the way back to their own times? And, more to the point, will they want to?

Tybalt & Theo is complete at 80,000 words.

Lisa - very unusual voice. Took me a while to get used to it (in fact I almost gave up when I read your pitch - but it actually conveys a good flavour of what your writing is like), but well worth the little perseverance. Backed. view book

I like the idea of a Marlowesque gumshoe treading the streets of a Northern English town - possibly you could 'Northernise' some of the other characters to point up the incongruity a bit more? An enjpyable romp. Backed. view book

What an amazing story, Joe. Written with great clarity and humour - I just wonder why this is on Authonomy and not blasting its way through the publication process. Shelved. view book
