about me

Married with two children (10 and 7 yrs) I work both as a private music tutor and a performer in top UK function band 'Red Hot and Blue'. I am also actively involved in the theatre, both performing and writing.

The majority of my writing as an adult has consisted of songs, articles, after dinner speeches, musicals and plays – mainly comedy. My latest production ‘Mmm Mmm the musical’, staged in May 2008 was an exceptionally successful sell-out show, with CD currently selling in London’s West End.

My jobs require me to deal with children and adults from all walks of life, and as such I witness struggles with teen angst from both child and adult perspectives. I was moved to write my first novel ‘Don’t Forget Your Lucky Pants’ as a result of this.

Don't Forget Your Lucky Pants' is complete at 80k words, only partially uploaded here.

I have just finished my first re-write of Don't Forget Your Lucky Pants. I have left it in the hands of my agent and updated it on this site. If you have any comments about it I would still be really grateful to hear them.

Thanks to everyone for their fabulous support.

Don't Forget Your Lucky Pants

Katrina Twitchett

Armed with integrity, wit and a pair of lucky pants, Molly battles bravely through her hilarious teenage existence. Then her mother dies. Life seems impossible.

Life for a teenager with gigantic boobs, stumpy legs and crazy hair is tough, but add an incessant deluge of vomit-inducing love poems from a geek, classroom witches, detentions, unrequited love and an internal monologue that will not shut up, it can be excruciating.

Molly copes with this embarrassing existence by deploying her overactive imagination and laughing at her every ridiculous predicament, along with the support of a brilliant best friend and a pair of lucky pants. She copes pretty well, that is until the untimely death of her mother. Her world is shattered.

Life doesn’t stop, even if it should, and coping now requires a whole new set of skills.

Hi Debbie, Have had no time at all to come on Authonomy for ages. Yours was the first book I read on my return, and I am simply blown away. What fabulous writing full of suspense and imagery with the bubbling evil in its scariest form - controlled. Absolutely shelving for all the perfect cha... view book

Hi Helen, whether it's just the site playing up or not, I could only read the first two chapters. I like your writing style, although I found that some of the humour was a little cliched and could do with sparkling up a little in my opinion. (But I am just another of the unpublished masses.) ... view book

Hi Harlen, I seriously liked this. Your writing flows well and the dialogue is believable. The opening drags the reader in and hangs on with ease. Lovely set up with tension and excitement bubbling away. I have no constructive criticism as I really felt this was a polished piece of work. U... view book

Hi Cheri, First of all - huge apologies for the length of time I've taken to get to this. Life is flying by without giving me a break at the mo. Artemis Rising is such a rich work. It is the first time I've read a pagan story and it definitely promises passion and mystery. There is some bea... view book

Hi Michael, Thought I'd look in as it's the last day of the month and I see you wrote me a note. I have had a read and I must say that TLCOS seems full of flavour and depth. Not sickly and adolescent as some can be, this has a grounded quality that makes for smooth reading. I like the French... view book
