about me

I have been writing since I could when pages of narrative description would end with the abrupt death of the protaganist (otherwise known as the boredom threshold of a seven-year old!)

Since then my attention span and perseverance have improved and Her Soul To Keep is my first full-length novel. I write because I have to - it's in the blood - and my dream would be to write full-time on a sun-drenched beach pausing only to swim in the sea and drink coconut milkshakes before taking calls from publishers around the world begging me to place my books with them...

I'm currently working on my second novel which revolves around the question of whether it's ever right to do the wrong thing, even with the best of intentions?

Apart from writing, I am a photographer, teach business studies part-time at a university and have a two year old daughter.

I am looking for an agent - please contact me via Authonomy or my photography website.

Her Soul To Keep

Kerry M

Kate's charmed life stalls when Aunt Rose dies. Unbeknownst to her, Rose and her sister Lily are meddling from beyond, but in very different ways.

Things have always gone well for Kate. “Aunt Lily’s up there looking after you,” her mother would say. But when sixty-something, vodka-drinking, man-eating Aunt Rose dies life becomes much less simple. The path Kate thought she was on twists and turns unexpectedly. Her eight-year relationship withers, an exotic Spaniard enters her life, she begins to doubt her best friend and an important contract falls through. In the afterlife, Rose and Lily vie with each other to meddle in Kate’s life, each thinking their way is best. They also have to resolve the differences between them. Lily reveals she was with Rose’s husband the night she died, aged thirty-two. She was found floating in the sea the day after Kate was born. But what part did Don play in her death? Lily is obstinately tight-lipped but Rose is determined to know the truth. And why is Rose getting younger each day but Lily stays the same? As the Aunts resolve their differences Kate's life lurches from crisis to crisis until she is left with a whole new set of circumstances and no idea what to do. Finally, she must decide for herself.

Hi Emily, I love this period and have read a few fictional and factual accounts of this story. Having said that, I would always be happy to read more which is where your book comes in. Echoing earlier comments, I thought it was well written, historically authentic and highly readable. Will defini... view book

Hi Bradley Loved the first line of chapter 2! Other than that, as I'm not a usual sci-fi fan, I found this highly readable and unusual (in a good way). I definitely want to read more even though I would consider the style "blokey" - it's appealing. Good luck, Kerry M Her Soul To Keep view book

Hi Katie, what a woman! Loved the style (Bridget Jones shaved of the fluff). A good thumping holiday read to entertain and titilate. Well done, Kerry M Her Soul To Keep view book

Hi KC, I've had a chance to read through some but not all. What I have read, I've found compelling, gentle and the style draws the reader on through the chapters with an unfolding narrative. Highly enjoyable. Kerry M (Her Soul To Keep) view book

Hi Roberta, although not a US citizen this type of informative docu-book is right up my street and I wish I had time to read and learn more about the American healthcare system. What I did read, I found well structured, pacy and easy to read. You have a good style for this type of book - highly re... view book
