Married with three sons, I've been writing on and off for a couple of years. I concentrate on fantasy & SF. I have one short story in print with some longer works on submission.

I love to read and am here to get new perspectives on my writing from those that feel the same. Always eager to get feedback on my writing, so give me a shout!

Hands Of The Reaver

Dan marcus

HOTR is a story of one man’s battle to win a city’s freedom from generations of civil war.

To defeat a ruthless tyrant and atone for the numberless sins of a past life spent in butchery, De Nomalous must risk his own damnation.

The two halves of the city of Venedor are at war, their inhabitants trapped. For any outside the walls after sunset are slaughtered. The Reavers are deathless, hateful, insane. Cursed to anguished torment until the end of time, denied the city by the will of a deity that may no longer exist.

Now the cruel and capricious Steward of the North plans to breach the midwall, unite Venedor under his iron rule. To stop him, De Nomalous must ally with the oppressed Bestials and make sense of the dreams that still haunt him. One Reaver lives still, one yet to pass into shadow. One at war with himself.

He must find the Gauntlet of war, cause for damnation of his twisted comrades of antiquity. Use it to unleash them against the Northern army, risking his own corruption even as the man he has become fights for dominance against the man that he was. A man capable of every atrocity.

Heritage

Dan Marcus

Heritage is a tale of fear and death in the snowbound forests of the northern-most province of the Hunarian Empire.

Boke Ana, Legionaire of the Hunarian Empire is coming home. The last time he and his wife did so, people died. Horribly. But an Imperial summons by the Empress Jianna cannot be ignored. In the shadow of the hill of Hak’na’ra’na, forbidden deity of a conquered people, he will be honoured for his service.

But the old Gods are not so lightly cast aside. Centuries of worship and sacrifice not so easily forgotten. A suitable vessel for the malice of the flayed one is finally at hand. The Eater of Men will feast once more on human meat. Nothing can stop this. Not the strength of Theodimundus Tutizar, the speed of Jordanes Malik or the faltering belief of Father Viladi Elias.

There are monsters too, among the men of the 3rd Century. Zolban Isaurian, hated Inquisitor of the Hunarian Church sees in the demon an opportunity to rid himself of the troublesome Empress. Lives will be taken, vows will be broken and a secret capable of destroying an Empire revealed.

Hi Paul, I've read the first three chapters, and I've written some observations that I hope are useful for you. I'd condense Cleve's backstory, relocating much of it as necessary. At the moment, there's far too much for me. It whipped me out of the initial scene just as I was getting comfortab... view book

Very solid. Being a huge fan of "Drop the dead donkey", it was no hardship to read this. A whore for satire, I am. The wordplay is deliciously accurate and some of the references were very snort-worthy. M.I.L.F. indeed. Certainly worthy of backing. Observations? I'd begin stronger. Set the sce... view book

Chick-lit, eh? Let's call it "Clit" for short. There are a few spelling mistakes, but I don't normally comment on spelling mistakes. Your write economically, which is always a solid start. Your use of dialog is good. I did find the talk of intercourse of a five year old odd, if not jarring, but I'm ... view book

A tag of "gay" is not something that I would normally look for on my watchlist. That's social conditioning for you, perhaps. Your style of writing is very wordy. I think that your story would benefit from a more economical use of description. Take J.F.'s initial description. Spencer is all-but gushi... view book

Nicely written. Gently moving and very English, worrying about cancelling the milk while trying to commit suicide. Your writing is almost flawless and needs no help from me. Can't believe you went with "Who wants to live forever?" though. "These are the days of our lives", surely? "You're silky... view book
