about me

First of all:
Thank you to everyone who has been kind enough to back and/or comment on my book. I try to make time to thank each person but sometimes I lose track and it may take me a while to catch up. Please know that your support, and particularly your advice, is very much appreciated.

My book:
"New Beginnings" is the first title in a fictional trilogy. I'm looking for advice and guidance, and constructive criticism of my work - I welcome your comments and advice, even if you don't feel inclined to back my book.

I've categorised it as 'romance' but it's not all hearts and flowers; there are tears as well as laughter, and the book includes adult themes (see tags) and unresolved conflicts. It's not a happy-skippy dance in the park, but then neither is real life, is it?

Authonomy:
As an Authonomy member, I accept invitations to read others' books, but will not back anything I don't like. When I first joined Authonomy I was tricked into the "you back my book and I'll back yours" arrangement a few times, with no reciprocal support. I've learned to be a little more discerning and that approach won't work with me any more, so if you invite me to swap reads, I feel it's only courteous that you should go first ;)

If you wish to contact me outside Authonomy, my email address is johannanield@googlemail.com

New Beginnings

Johanna Nield

Tasha loves music, food, sex, clothes (not necessarily in that order) and her boss.
Will she find heartache or happiness?

Having struggled to move on after an acrimonious break-up, Tasha starts the New Year with a new blog and a long list of plans. She has good friends, a great social life, and plenty to look forward to.

Working for a children’s charity which provides short-term accommodation for teenagers with family difficulties, Tasha loves her job. Settling back into single life, and looking forward to the future, she's foot-loose and fancy-free with no problems .. except for the huge crush she has on her boss. Unable to tell anyone because he's married, Tasha pours her heart out in the only way she can - in her blog.

Tragedy heralds a series of new beginnings ... and some unexpected endings.

The entire extract here has been amended. If you've read it before, I'd welcome your thoughts. Thank you.

I''ve read to the end of chapter 8 and I'm totally engrossed. Your characters are so alive, and I'm desperate to know how this is going to end. I'm backing this now, and will read on, but just wanted you to know that I think this is a brilliant story and I wish you every success with it. Best w... view book

I like this! It's gritty and honest and very evocative, and with some editing (punctuation, etc) and some work on presentation (breaking up the long paragraphs) it will make an excellent book which I'm sure will sell well. Backed for potential, and I wish you every success Best wishes Gail NEW B... view book

I ued to read a lot of Sci-Fi in my teens, but have rarely bothered since and it's certainly not my favoured genre at the moment (despite being a huge Sci-Fi TV fan). Authonomists like you, though, are changing that! I love the sheer scale of this story, and the vividly descriptive way in which ... view book

I've read the first five chapters, and feel that this has great promise. I would suggest some editing, to fix some typing/spelling errors and the occasional missing word, and - more importantly - to fix the viewpoint. Your narrative jumps from present to past tense and back again, which I found ve... view book
