about me

Windhaven Loop is my current work in progress.
It is about an attempted murder and the theft of a priceless inheritance, spiced up with an element of time travel. It's undergoing a major edit at the moment but I'd still like feedback so I can incorporate fixes.

The Beaumont Bequest is a ghost story and is complete at 157,000 words. It is available on Amazon Kindle.

I don't mind which book you read. Just go for the pitch that appeals to you most. Neither of these books is high-end genre so there's nothing to alienate the reader with more literary tastes. I like to write stylish, complex stories that have a realistic ambience but with just a hint of fantasy or science fiction.

Windhaven Loop

Lynne Jones

Jim and Roddy are ill-suited to their current lives and long for a different destiny - but time has a way of healing all wounds.

Doctor Jim Eden longs for escape from the monotony of a profession he never wanted. His life takes an exciting new turn when antiques dealer, Lorenz Eden, turns up in his Windhaven surgery, claiming to be his long-lost cousin. But Lorenz is a visitor from two hundred years in the future, on a mission to persuade his illustrious ancestor to take part in an elaborate antiques scam that will set Jim on the road to fame and fortune.

Jim tries to go along with Lorenz's plans but is distracted by his longing for the excitement of Lorenz's world. At the same time, his patient, history professor Roddy Rook, looks back to the elegance of the Regency era, a time when the Rook family had position and influence. When Jim and Lorenz plan to relieve Roddy of his family heirlooms, their scam begins to unravel under the influence of a temporal disturbance called the Windhaven Loop. Fearful of discovery, Jim has no choice but to help Roddy fulfil his heart's desire, unaware that this will change his own destiny forever.

The Beaumont Bequest

Lynne Jones

When a crooked lawyer burns a dead author's books, their words come back to haunt him.

Having destroyed author REX BEAUMONT's last will regarding the Heartsease estate, his nephew, PATRICK PETO, has no qualms about ignoring an insignificant codicil leaving "all my books to Barbara". But when he illegally obtains possession of Heartsease and consigns his uncle's entire body of work to the flames, he awakes vengeful forces that are determined to set matters aright.

When Patrick unwittingly presents BARBARA DANE with the leather-bound volumes containing Rex's memoirs, she makes surprising discoveries about the distinguished past of the man she has known only as a frail old eccentric. While she becomes embroiled in the books' efforts to fulfil Rex's wishes, the author's imaginary worlds invade Patrick's reality until he can no longer distinguish fact from fiction.

After an argument, his wife, ELEANOR, banishes him from the family home, leaving him no choice but to spend the night at Heartsease. There, he is at the mercy of the characters his uncle created, including the fearsome JUDGE JULIUS SCRIVENER who puts Patrick on trial for his life. After a plea for mercy from the fictional NOEL BEATTIE, his sentence is reduced to 90 days and 90 nights, during which he must rewrite every story he has destroyed.

This is really well done. You almost feel as though you are looking over Richard's shoulder as the action takes place. The period detail is rich without being intrusive while the plot unfolds at a pace that is just right for an historical novel. The first chapter makes an effective prologue, hinting... view book

I've read and enjoyed all four chapters. I have to agree with olefish that this reads like a children's book and that Holly seems much younger than 38. Partridge is an excellent character though. The magical talents and witch history seems well worked out. I particularly liked the 'glamour' spell. I... view book

I think this is definitely a book for the literary connoisseur rather than the person who just reads for entertainment. The style is very dense and scholarly. I felt I could follow the chapters about Konrad more easily but the researcher's chapters, while atmospheric, were impenetrable in places. Th... view book

This is absolutely perfect and charming. The ending when Ben chooses his new form is delightful. I can't fault this. It certainly deserves to be published. view book

I read all the stories and extracts you posted here. You have a very vivid imagination. I thought the fairy tales were more appealing and better developed than the suspense stories but I liked the way you modify your style of writing to suit each genre. I liked the Magic Telescope and the one about ... view book
