about me

I have lived in Miami, Florida for the past 20 years. I graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in Psychology. Then I worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad as an operating officer, and owned a boat repair shop in South Carolina. In 1991 I completed a Masters degree in Marine Science from the University of Miami and remained with the school as a graphic designer and software programmer. I am an avid diver, a licensed pilot, and an amateur photographer.

One Saturday morning, I was sitting on a lawn chair in my backyard with my wife, Ileana, when I suddenly stood up and told her I was going inside to write a book. Having never expressed any interest in doing so before, she said something like, "Sure, sweetie, have at it." It turned out that I was able to hurl words on paper until it turned into a book. That's when I wound up here.

Note to readers: I just resequenced my chapters so they match the links. If you read chapter 1, I suggest you follow it up by also reading chapter 4 where that scene concludes. In subsequent chapters, they run into trouble for swiping an admiral's supply of booze. Chapter 18 highlights their first confrontation with the furious admiral. This crew is one of three major story-lines.

Please feel free to take a look at my website, shown below, which includes a link to my email and a PDF of the book which includes the photos, maps, and layout. The site is just for Authonomy members.

Song of the Solomons- A Bad Si....

E. Hunt Augustus

Coastwatcher MacMahon and his sidekicks sow chaos in the war-torn South Pacific with their miscalculations, zany tactics, and misguided operations that backfire with unpredictable results.

The action, adventure, and absurdity continues in Song of the Solomons — A Bad Situation Made Worse as the state of affairs on Santa Isabel Island degenerates into a melee that extends well beyond the beaches. Joining the island's coastwatcher, and his scheming sidekicks, are the crews of the Fletcher-class Destroyer, USS Vulcan; a PBY Catalina seaplane dubbed, Lucy-Goosey; with an Admiral, a Marine General and a pair of hapless girlfriends, tossed in for good measure. Pyromaniacs, sight-challenged aviators, fearless native fighters, incompetent, ill-suited, and deranged officers, join the fray in the war-torn South Pacific. The reader will be introduced to a slew of colorful characters who sow chaos and destruction when their miscalculations, unconventional tactics, and misguided operations are subverted by unanticipated consequences, and just plain stupidity. Enjoy this World War Two sideshow from the safety of your favorite reading spot, and you will have a rollicking good time.
