about me
I was born and raised in New York City, where I still reside. After I finished graduate school, I was an instructor of psychology at the City University of New York. After a few years, I became bored with teaching. I became an entrepreneur, owning and operating a series of businesses.
One of my great loves is adventure travel. I've been fortunate enough to go on safaris in Botswana, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. I've jungle trekked in Borneo, and traveled to the Arctic Circle by husky dog sled. I visited the outback of Australia, the Canadian and American Rockies, the American southwest, Costa Rica, Columbia, much of Western Europe, Malaysia, and Israel.
My favorite literary writers include Dostoevsky, Proust, Conrad, Kafka, Melville, Hugo, Hemingway, and London. Favorite more modern writers include Matthiessen, and Marquez. Another favorite literary genre is travel and nature writing. In the field of spy thrillers I like John Le Carre, Ken Follet, and Daniel Silva. I've recently discovered Glen Meade and Vince Flynn.
I am interested in history (both ancient and modern). Politics is another passion of mine, particularly of the Middle East in terms of the Israeli/Arab/Palestinian conflict.
I enjoy classic movies (especially film noirs), horseback riding, wildlife, dining out, baseball, and boxing. My favorite pop music is Classic Rock, especially Bob Dylan. I enjoy art, but I can't define it, other than to say it is anything that inspires. Also, partying on occasion never killed anyone - I hope.
I detest long walks along a beautiful beach, quiet evenings at home by the fireplace, and socializing with friends - just kidding.
favourite books
Crime and Punishment, The Brothers Karamazov, Heart of Darkness, The Old Man and the Sea, The Trial.
Among the more recent books I loved is The Snow Leopard, and the historical works of Bernard Lewis.
