about me

*I am always up for read swaps! If you read and comment on my work I will always reciprocate*

My name is Joe I was born in Waterford, Michigan but was raised by the United States Army. I joined when I was still just a kid at 17 years old. I've deployed multiple times in support of the Global War On Terror, whether i agree or not about the morality behind it all is not really important. It wouldn't change anything.

I am currently deployed once again to Afghanistan and am writing about it (chronicled in 'The Hooligans Of Kandahar') and look forward to becoming a student of Journalism once my contract in the Army runs out in a year.

The Hooligans Of Kandahar

Joseph Kassabian

Written by a soldier in the U.S. Army during his deployment to Kandahar, Afghanistan. Follow the second squad "Hooligans" through everything they experience.

*Authors note: All times, places, and names have been changed to protect Operational Security (OPSEC) and all soldiers besides myself from any and all liability. Everything contained within is true*

Outrageous, hilarious, and absolutely candid this is about a squad of U.S. Soldiers nicknamed "The Hooligans". Life in combat is stressful, full of carnage and mayhem, punctuated by hours of intense boredom and thoughtful arguments about the best way to get laid when you get home. Follow the Hooligans through the gunfights, explosions, and tedious missions. A memoir that also reveals the universal stupidity about the madness of war. Vulgar, shocking, and totally candid, don't expect thoughtful debates, they don't send scholars to war anymore. "The Hooligans" are normal people in a extraordinary situation, how far would your shame, humility, and good manners survive out here?

The world of a Summer Camp is easily grabbed onto by most, great place to set the story. I ID with Theresa, thats for sure, even though I'm a guy. Shes a great MC. Chapter one was incredibly well done, it sucked me in and did a great job of explaining the setting and plot. On my W/L for further rea... view book

A Slowly devolving story that turns into something great! I Struggled through the opening, but soon i was hooked. The crisis of you V Hassan is well fleshed out and plays out like a drama. I need to read a bit more when i have the time, added to my w/l for later! Joe, The Hooligans Of Kandahar view book

A hilarious premise here. And a great line in "There are many roads to madness and very few signposts" that brought me in. I really liked the old films and advertisements making a appearance, the whole world you create is wonderfully fleshed out. Great work! Joe, The Hooligans Of Kandahar. view book

A crazy mixup of folklore meets in this story and I really wanted to get that far. I got through the first chapter and I really enjoyed how it played out. I wasn't able to get to the meat of the story but from what I saw it flowed well and was easy to read. adding it to my w/l for further reading. ... view book

A great premise! I love the idea behind this, the execution is incredibly well done also. The idea of reading the 'other peoples' prospective is something that anyone and everyone should get behind. I love the granny's no bull attitude on how to get at the wolf! great work! view book
