about me

Hello. I'm Leigh, I'm twenty five years old and I live in Southend-On-Sea, a town famous for being home to the longest pleasure pier in the world. I'm lucky that frequently vandalised wooden structures inspire me. I'm an aspiring author, a backpacker and a clumsy idiot. I have just finished my first fictional story which is now available for all to read/judge/print off and burn or use as scrap paper. I thank you all in advance for any feedback, and hope I can do the same for you.

Naive eyes

Leigh Alexander Mitchell

A short, sharp trip around the world through a pair of broken, blurry and romantic eyes.

Maximilian Lywood is a twenty-something man child living in London, with a head full of unfulfilled dreams, a mouth full of sarcastic asides and lungs filled with smoke. When a terrifying diagnosis leaves him questioning his life choices, he drags his broken-hearted best friend on a chaotic round the world trip in search of answers. Funny, heart felt and romantic, Naive eyes is for anyone who has ever loved and lost, and done everything in their power to get it back.

I really enjoyed the humour of the dialogue and found it really natural. Of everything I've read on this site so far I've found the discussions in your first chapter to be the funniest and most authentic. Excellent work, rated and backed. Leigh. view book

Diana, thank you once again for your undying support and friendship throughout my time here... And I've just read your favourite chapter. Wow. 'Throughout her adult life she’d never even considered cutting her mother off, in spite of all her friends’ advice that she’d be better off without her... view book

Hey... Your narrative is a very emotional one and you deal with the subject matter or death in a very delicate way. I really like the way you open with such a hard hitting scene. I'm yet to read past the first chapter but what I have done I've really enjoyed. I will come back to it but for now I ... view book

You handle such a difficult subject matter so very well, without being morbid and by keeping the reader guessing. The characters are very well drawn, and it kept me reading in the hope that this Nathan might meet a particularly grisly end. Good luck, I hope to see this shoot back up, it deserves to ... view book

Dear Simon, Our mutual friend Diana put me on to this and I'm so glad she did. I had to stop four chapters in just to tell you how much I'm enjoying it. Your narration flows so smoothly, like I'm listening to a mate tell me about a diary he's found. And this Yuko Zen girl sounds amazing, I hope f... view book
