The novel centers around three main characters who are only loosely linked to each other. They are all struggling to come to terms with being in their early twenties living in modern Britain, all be it in different ways.
The novel addresses such modern day normalities as an unhappy young marriage brought on by an unexpected pregnancy, visiting and working in strip clubs, 'hoodie' youth culture and working in a call center, as well as dealing with obsession, lust, loneliness and hope.
