about me

I'm back after a long haitus.

Although my novels aren't biographical in any way, they are written as "true-to-life" type stories, and contain elements of a dichotomy in my own life. That being, the struggle between what is, and what might have been.

I'm married to the same wonderful woman for the past thirty-two years. She is my best friend and advocate. She is also the one who keeps my head screwed on straight when i go off on some crazy tangent. (which is often, lol)

Living life in a straight world as a man attracted to others of his same gender hasn't been easy for me at times, but her faithful love has given me a perspective that perhaps few others have. I have learned from her that it is possible for a gay man to lead a happy and fulfilling life married to a woman.

I also realize that I am a rare exception to the rule. My writing is aimed at the many men who have never come "out of the closet" and find themselves struggling to make sense of their own same sex attractions. I offer choices to them, trying to reveal the pluses and minuses of opposing points of view. I am a believer in Jesus, and yet my views regarding same sex relationships are in opposition to the norm.

The gay agenda is at this point in western history, a very polarizing social issue. This is especially true with those who have a religious background or inclination.

My greatest desire is to be a part of the education process of those having eyes for guys, as well as those who can't, or just won't allow themselves to understand what it's like for a man to live his life under cover because of unchosen attraction. Wouldn't a culture of true tolerance (I'm talking both sides here) be a wonderful thing?

The Paths We Chose

Tyler Adams

Sixteen year old Alex Harper wishes life wasn’t filled with so many hard choices. Classmate Phil Johnson believes there’s a simple solution. …but who’s right?

Two young men on parallel rails of the same track, and both realizing their same sex attraction isn’t just a passing phase. When tragic circumstances bring their lives together, Alex Harper and Phillip Johnson form a friendship that helps them both to learn much about life and love. Alex was sure love would be found in romance. Phil, a recent convert to the Christian faith, and not wanting to admit to anyone that God hadn’t seemed to change “that part” of him yet, was sure that true love somehow must involve girls.

Can two lonely teens, with such similar interest, become close friends and still remain on separate rails? …or will one persuade the other to see the light and jump track?

Forty years ago, being attracted to those of your own gender and living in rural America left you with but one choice -get over it! Not so, today. Many teens, confused by these strange feelings, are forced to make choices that in the past just weren't necessary. This is a story of two such young men looking to find their way.

Kathryn, First off, let me say a bit about your book pitch. Your pitch is likely a good descriptor of the story. The challenge then as I see it, is to use your limited number of words to give less detail, and instead, build questions that compel the potential buyer to carry the book to the checko... view book

Phil, I found within your first chapter, a great hook for the story you describe in your pitch. Pity then, that there’s about five-thousand too many words for most readers to find it. After I digested the crux of the chapter, I became intrigued in your story. Here’s my critique then: get rid of t... view book

Nothing to add to the comments already made. Your story touched my heart and pulled me in, generating the need to read more. What else could a writer ask for? Shelved! tyler (The Paths We Chose) view book

John, Fantastic, descriptive text. I typically do not read much sci-fi, but found myself drawn into the work. One thing that in my opion could do more to draw in a broader readership (which is much deserved), is to make the story line stronger in the first several chapters. While I found myself ena... view book

A.G. It's pretty obvious that a lot of people like the way you've laid out your story, but for me, the prologue was a bit stretched out. I think moving the volcanic epuption up a bit and blending some of the personal details into later parts of the story would be more effective in bringing non-scif... view book
