The Club of Extraordinary Occu....

Neil Russell-Jones

A dining club that meets monthly to tell extraordinary tales of crime, thrills and mystery.

This book is a collection of short stories told by members of a dining club that meets monthly to tell extraordinary tales. These 12 people, from many different walks of life, are acquaintances or friends of the Chairman: Professor A. Frank Belvoir, a pathologist.
The raconteur picks the menu on a theme that reflects their tale: usually linked to the main location of the action.
The members are referred to by the nicknames that the group has given them:
Chemical engineer – ‘The Boffin’; Lawyer – ‘Dryasdust’; Ventriloquist/ entertainer/ writer – ‘Archie’; Actor – ‘Janus’; Nurse – ‘the Angel’; Banker – ‘Marley’; Policeman [CSI] – ‘Shamus’; Architect – ‘Eddy’; Clergywoman – ‘Mary’; Army Officer [SAS] – ‘Fruity’; Teacher – ‘Podge’. The Chairman is ‘The Professor’, and it is in his London town house that they meet.
Each story has a different setting and a menu that goes with it and in some cases relevant; and in one particular story: central to the tale.
The tales have twists and interesting items to hold attention. Some involve deaths or attempted deaths; others crimes or mysteries. The member is usually, but not always, involved in the tale.

The Loud Mountain - Volume 1 ....

Victoria, Elizabeth and Neil R....

A young girl's development into a powerful sorcereress, involving a quest for the legendary firebird and a battle against evil magicians.

The Loud Mountain is an all-age trilogy which can be read by anyone: rather as can Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings etc.
The story concerns the struggle between good and evil in the Land of Galdégária: a thousand years after the last struggle – the Chaos Wars. It is a time when evil is resurgent again.
The novel is action focussed and the characters develop progressively over the three volumes. The main heroine is a young girl called Sharaval with exceptional latent magic powers who is to be trained as an enchantress as she is believed to be the one who will save the land from the rising evil. The main heroes are a young boy called Zhomar – slightly older than Sharaval; and Garval, a powerful wizard. There is lots of magic; and there are many different creatures: dragons, centaurs, gryphons, wyverns; evil magicians and dark creatures – banshees, ximeras, lizards, manticores and so on; and lots of other heroes/heroines, adventures and sub-plots.
