about me

I promise to read at least three chapters of at least one of the stories of everyone who has backed or commented upon Fracture War: The Montana Crisis. Please understand, I am not going to back someone simply because they back me, and would not ask anyone else to do the same for me. Even if it is outside the genres I normally read or enjoy (Thriller, Military, Science Fiction, Legal Drama, Medical Drama, Fantasy). Thank you to everyone who has backed me so far, I will be posting the next five chapters online next weekend, and I hope you enjoy them.

Eric Mertz is a twenty-one year old student from Kansas City, Kansas, where he has lived his entire life. He has been an aspiring writer since the summers between his second and third grade years, when his father gave him a copy of Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton, which he then proceeded to read through twice that summer.

He spent his four years in High School participating in Debate and Forensics, regularly placing in the top six in Model Congress and later Model Senate for his rational argumentation and constitutional knowledge.

He earned his Eagle Scout in the summer of his 18th year, and is currently studying to be an officer in the United States Navy. He also co-hosts a Talk-Radio Show on the Johnson County Community College Internet Radio Station from 1:00-3:00 pm on Tuesdays and Fridays.

His first novel, Fracture War: The Montana Crisis, is the first in a globe-spanning series that will tell of a world fracturing at the domestic and foreign seams, from the unlikely new metropolis of Bozeman, Montana, to the radioactive crater where downtown Beijing once stood, to the blood stained square in Tbilisi, Georgia, and beyond.

A storm is coming, are you prepared?

In a world collapsing under the weight of bloated governments and history, Kell Anderson is a young man plagued with dreams of even darker times to come. All the while, Kell Anderson is wondering if he can stop the coming storm or if he is simply a passenger of the winds, riding them to his place in history as the man responsible for the sundering of the United States of America.

A great read. I couldn't stop reading because I was laughing too hard to think about it. This is truly great comedy. Well done. Eric D. Mertz Fracture War: The Montana Crisis view book

I am sorry to say that I cannot, in good faith, back this. The plot for one is extremely derivative of Harry Potter, to the point that I wondered if The Beast was simply some aspect of Voldemort. It was something I could not shake through out the first chapter, and something which prevented me fro... view book

A first person murder mystery told first person from the point of view of the murderer and a witness. It is a great concept and it has been well executed here. Well worth the read. Eric D. Mertz Fracture War: The Montana Crisis view book

I like this genre, but have found little in the way of good fantasy in bookstores. This is good fantasy. The story you are weaving here is excellent, and the world they are inhabiting feels truly fantastic, with a sense of impending doom and darkness in the air. The tension feels real, and the th... view book

This is a funny story with a great voice. Cuthbert is quite the character, and one I found entertaining. The same with the raven and the bull. This story is one that can appeal to all ages, and I would suggest it to all of my friends, whether they have children or not. Well done. Eric D. Mert... view book
