about me

"It is an interesting biological fact that all of us have in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean, and therefore, we have salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears. We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea - whether it is to sail or to watch it - we are going back from whence we came." -- John F. Kennedy

Into the Deep is a story that's been floating - no pun intended - around in my head for a while now and I thought I'd take a chance on it. I have to say, it's become one of my most beloved manuscripts.

It's mostly complete at 65k with a goal of 67-69k.

Into the Deep

Missy Fleming

Sea levels around the world are rising, massive storms threaten coastal cities, and Aurora’s life changes forever with one step into the ocean.

Aurora always believed mermaids were creatures of legend, of children’s stories, but that all changes the night of her sixteenth birthday. Betrayed by her mother, she abandons her life on land to discover an amazing world beyond expectation and to find the father she never knew. She’s thrust into a life full of intrigue, danger, and promise as she fights to settle into the role of a mermaid princess.

But her new life is under attack.

While the storms growing around the globe carry other dangers like rising waters and violent marine animals, Aurora is caught up in the race to track down what, or who, is causing these terrible events. Is it possible that it falls on her? A brand new mermaid destined to use the power she was born with?

This is my YARG review. Great characters! It made me chuckle quite a bit. The voice is spot on, I've been reading a lot of YA lately and this has all the right elements. It's a great idea, too, and a unique view on the afterlife. I see this doing well, both on Authonomy and out in the 'real worl... view book

Sorry it took me so long to get to this! I wish I'd gotten to it sooner now I've read it. It's well written and it definitely deserves the rank it's reached. I think you're a talented writer, who knows how to draw the reader along, tempting them to continue. Great characters too. I love reading abou... view book

I"m finally getting around to checking this out, sorry it took so long. It was definitely worth the wait. You do a great job of setting the scene in chapter one, I was in that loud room with them. I think I'm going to like Jeru, something about him just got to me. The story progresses well from t... view book

YARG! I loved the prologue, it really gives me an idea of things to come. I want to know more about the Witches. You did a good job of giving us story without making it a dump. Already I'm wondering if Sam in the main part of the book is connected to the Samantha in the prologue. The dialogue... view book

A YARG review First, I love the idea of the circus, what an exotic place to set the book, full of mystery and romance. Your descriptions are spot on. I read three chapters and I'm very impressed! The writing is polished and strong, it flowed well, and I love your characters. YA is a hard genre to... view book
