about me

I love to play guitar, sing, go for runs, read and write. I've always loved writing and there has never been a time when I didn't imagine wanting to become a published author.

I've uploaded two of my books so far. Gut Instincts, a book that I have been working on for quite some time, is complete and the first of a trilogy. I am currently working on the sequels. Not So Sweet Sixteen is incomplete and I have uploaded a portion of the book here.

I return all reads and will give honest feedback. I will back books only if I like them. If I've promised to take a look at your book and I've forgotten, don't hesitate to remind me.
I am so glad that I have found this site. No one had ever read my book before and I love being able to get unbiased feedback. I really just want to know if I'm capable of becoming a writer.

Thanks to Bradley Wind for the awesome book cover!!! (:

Not So Sweet Sixteen

Melissa Koehler

Being curious got me into too much trouble. Now, I'm paying for it.

Sam has never been an average teenager. Sam, adopted and a loner, is tired of hiding her secrets... and being kept from even more. When she accidently discovers a strange note hidden in the basement relating to a boy she's involved with, Sam is propelled into a mystery she's driven to solve. Event after event, Sam learns more and more about her past, each new item being more painful than the last. Intrigued to know more, but at the same time, extremely hard to take in, Sam wonders if she would have been better off not knowing.

Gut Instincts

Melissa Koehler

I was used to my gut screaming at me to do something… if only I had listened to it.

I didn’t say a word as I walked out of the kitchen and into the front hallway. I opened the door when John spoke;

“I’m sorry, Rach.”

I didn’t look at him, “I know.”

“Do you believe me?” he asked.

I could almost hear his heavy, anxious heartbeat as he waited for my answer.

I didn’t hesitate, “no,” and then I left.

If your gut was screaming at you not to do something, would you listen to it?
Rachel has the perfect life. At least she thinks she does. Perfect boyfriend, perfect friends, perfect grades, perfect clothes. Until that one disaster that led to the one night that changed everything…

So sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. I've read everything you've posted. Your descriptions are very vivid and easy to imagine. At times though, I felt like some sentences and a bit of dialogue was a little awkward. I'd suggest maybe reading some of it outloud- I'm sure you'll notic... view book

So sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you, but I'm finally here for my part of our swap. I think you've got an interesting, unique story here. The 'voice' for your main character feels real and natural. I think many women will be able to relate to her. Also, I really like your cover. ... view book

So sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. To start off, I really, really like your pitches. Not only are they intiguing and captivating, but they're just the right length. You've displayed the right amount, while managing not to give too much away. After reading them, I had to keep re... view book

To sit down and write about what you went through, and relive it all again, really is something to be amazed by. You've got a great 'voice'. You've managed t... view book

Hi, I'm here for my part of our read swap. I think this is really cute. Really cute. I read the first chapter and skimmed the next couple chapters and I like your storyline and where I think you're going with this. It's unique and something I've never seen before.
