about me

I'm hoping to get suggestions and feedback for my current novel project - a science fiction book which I wrote during the NaNoWriMo (National November Writing Month) last year and need motivation, encouragement and help fixing/ revising and editing. I'm interested in reading sci-fi and YA sci-fi.

The Hearkeners

Beverly E. Clarke

Continually reborn as youth each time they die, six friends of an ostracized race risk all to discover the truth of their reality.

Airlin is repulsed when a Gost who has claimed the body of a drowned neighbor washes ashore near her mountain village. But when the demon seems to recognize her, Airlin risks everything to save him, hoping he knows of her past. Instead of answers though, Airlin suffers the loss of her grandfather, gains an unwelcome attraction to the creature, Ruel, and develops more questions about a world that no longer seems to follow the conventions of reason.
When Ruel and four other unlikely companions accompany Airlin on a perilous journey through Hearkland in search of her father and her memory, Airlin is forced to examine her beliefs as the adventure becomes a test of survival. As the group encounters dangerous ports, redmen with vicious screech hounds, disturbing anomalies with the sun and weather, slave barges and a death cave, Airlin’s cold rational heart opens to feel love and embrace the mystery of her impossible reality.

Your story has kept me turning the pages. I've read six chapters and will be back to continue. Enjoying the read. view book

Your pitch was excellent. It made me realize I have much to learn to improve my own hook. I've only read the first chapter so far but I'm impressed. Your 'explanations' and flashbacks don't slow the story and already I feel as if I care what happens to Inara. I'll be back to read more soon. view book

You're very welcome, Bill. The backing is well deserved. I've taken awhile to get around to reading, Faust's Butterfly, and have only read less than half of your book. I thought I would wait until I had read more to comment or back your work but your story and your writing is so exceptionally well d... view book

Hi Ruth Sorry I've taken so long to get back to you after your kind comments about my book. The site is still new and slightly overwhelming to me but I am glad I took the time to read your book. Hi Neville Thanks for taking the time to comment on my book. I appreciated your advise. I'm spending a lot more time reading than I should be (instead of writing!) since coming aboard here, but with so many excellent books to look over, especially ones like your Secrets of the Forest who can resist... view book
