Mr Doble, a primary school teacher, gets illuminating insights into the family life of his pupils when he becomes a fly on the wall.
Mr Doble, a teacher at Park View Primary, is a daydreamer.
He often finds himself considering why his pupils behave as they do.
Simon's a bad loser, Louise is a bully and Basil is painfully shy.
Mr Doble ponders these and other irritating traits in the children he
teaches. He wonders what it would be like to be a fly on the wall in
their homes and suddenly that's exactly what he is. He is able to
observe the pupils’ home life which gives him an insight into some of
the causes of their behaviour at school.
His interludes as a fly are surprising, sometimes shocking and often
very funny. The book reaches its climax when he visits his favourite pupil and sees a very different side to her!
