Dear Lily

Holly Bush

Newspaper reporter hunkers down to survive layoffs.

Downsizing forces middle aged newspaper reporter, John Schram, to write a love advice column. His oldest son is in crisis and John's chosen to ignore the increasing seriousness of the situation and focus on work, writing three potentially big stories, one of which involves the owner of the newspaper he works for. Always the observer, John prefers to watch the goings on around him and never fails to find the absurdities and the irony all around him. But is his edge slipping? With his children? His co-workers? Has mid-life and its crisis' found John Schram?

Politics and Bedfellows

Holly Bush

Political strategist, Glenda Nelson, discovers her candidate is a loser or the trickle down effect of mens' infidelities.

Politics & Bedfellows is just like real life – funny, ironic, sometimes sad and always fast paced. Political strategist, Glenda Nelson, is a middle-aged divorcee, mother of teenage children and has just found out her handpicked U.S. Senate candidate was caught in a sex scandal. With her job on the line, she’s got to put together a damage control strategy, and do it fast. On the bright side, her love life finally perked up after a two-year dry spell - but will the new guy prove to be a carbon copy of her ex-husband

I found this story to be very well done. There's a clipped, no-nonsense style that still manages to convey Jack's emotions. It was easy to be with him mentally as you see in this opening chapter, his rise and his fall. I did have some trouble following the language of the game. I had to think about ... view book

Great language and sense of place. Strong voice as well. And yes, my real name is Holly Bush. Given name is Hollis but I haven't gone by that in years and I actually tried going by it when I remarried Mr. Bush. But everyone knew me as Holly and it was a losing battle. I don't shelve many boo... view book

Nice use of imagery. Some of the dialogue feels/sounds a little wrong. Easy fix though, I'm sure. Holly view book

I'm only on chapter 4 but what great tale! The dragon scene had me, especially when I realized you were using (I think) Stone... view book
