about me

A journalist, freelance writer and photographer, former daily news reporter, I spent my prom night in high school on deadline for our small town weekly. Specialties include Middle East politics, profiles, music and entertainment reporting. ***Becoming the great American novelist was always my dream, but you gotta eat, right?

****Why I haven't been on Autho lately: http://www.sawtbeirut.com/all-news/world-news/world-news/17174-dozens-reported-dead-in-syrias-bloodiest-day-of-protests.html
If you get a chance, please check out and comment (or on my Facebook page). This people need to know we care over here. Its been 2 days no sleep and such horrors to have to write about. Keep these poor people being massacred by Assad regime in your prayers.

A word about my novel: "The Demon Lover" is meant to be an allegory of sorts, incorporating the various techniques, cliches, etc of pop fiction genres such as romance, action-adventure, the old series western, and even sci-fi and erotica - but with a dark twist. Beirut, Lebanon in 1987 could be any place, time or city where ordinary people have been subjected to the horrors of man's inhumanity to man. This is the tale of everyman. (There but by the grace of God, Cosmos, Universal Mind, Great Code Writer in-the sky, etc. go any of us?)
As I get part two and three loaded, please be warned that there is adult language and (explicit) content. If you're offended, its meant to offend (and take to task) most of the human race for our shameless desire for power, and insistence that we be vindicated, justified, mollified - and might makes right, of course! That said, I'm apologizing up front if my main character picks on anyone's sacred cow. Stick around, everyone gets their turn eventually.
****What we should be offended by: men with guns (sticks, stones, siege machines, bows and arrows) who (for no particular reason) have perpetuated genocide on millions since the beginnings of human existence; and the gangster war-lord wannabes (some of whom lead nations, religions, empires and armies) who convince us to slaughter one another's children for some trumped up slogan, creed or cause. I'm betting the entire Universe is offended, but that's just my take...

The Demon Lover

Rhonda Parker

War-torn Beirut, Lebanon, 1987 - an undercover agent must protect an innocent American hostage without blowing his cover.

Undercover agent Karim El Azhar knows he walks the edge of the dark-side. Catch me if I fall—but who?The old Arab proverb says, 'To wallow in the mire with pigs, is to become a pig.' As a boy, Karim hid in a thicket and watched as terrorist thugs massacred his family and the inhabitants of his tiny village in South Lebanon. Since that day, he's done a hell of a lot of wallowing...
Now, his time for revenge has come. When a staged hijacking goes awry, complication comes in the form of a shapely, girl-next-door type who calls herself "Angel". In another time, place—maybe another life, she'd be the girl of his dreams (those he's never allowed himself); but under the circumstances, ensuring sweet Angel's safety becomes a major liability. After all, the good guy's supposed to save the pretty girl, right? Not get her killed.

Although the politics of his former homeland would have them enemies, he works with a Palestinian doctor to devise a plan to protect Angel and the innocent refugees who serve as human shields for the war lord's Beirut operations.

Prologue - creepy good! Vivid and erotic-creepy - always a great hook for this type of book. My only tiniest suggestion would be a few places with "was" passive. Not every was. Second line .. was blood - obviously good, apropo, belt was fastened, use of "had" works here, because you're covering grou... view book

Amazingly well-written prologue! The drama, pain of the character, hopelessness, came through and have us caught up immediately. This line: Some hero I turned out to be... Wow! What power in that one little sentence. Now I am compelled to find out the rest of the story.... I want to find out how "h... view book

Great, fun read!!! I absolutely love your wit, and your uncluttered prose! Girl - this is the type of book I want in my beach bag, or for that long, boring winter night! I honestly have no complaints! This is watchlisted, to be shelved. Also plan to turn my mom onto this. She's on here as a reader, ... view book

This is brilliant writing. I had a feeling it would be from the plug, but wow oh wow! The opening chapter - we're right in the middle of action, and you have us turning pages from the opening paragraph. Such gorgeous prose, without being overdone! You bring Eddie's world to life for us, which is so ... view book
