about me

My name is Stuie, I'm 31 and with two children. Hello. Currently living in Newcastle Under Lyme, I've been writing for a year. My two novels, 'The Ghosts Of Montgomery' and 'The Apple Of Clareza' are usually languishing at the bottom of the ratings. I quite like them but then I'm biased.

I spent some time away from here, but a consequence of that was my books dropping like lead. Anyone else find no matter how much they promote they still are at the bottom? I don't take it personally. Except for the crying and the gin.

I've only ever been good at writing. And I'm not sure how good I am at that.

favourite books

Any with an emotional resonance, that don't spend four chapters introducting the lead character, that grip me and don't let go.

The Polished Horde

Stuie Parker

Bagley is a bad man.

Jaded and cynical, made bitter by the world, he's about to be woken.

And potentially destroy the human race.

Bagley hates the world and most things in it; he barely loves the people close to him. Numbed and cold by people and places; he tries to find a spark in the world through unsavoury thrills and venomous debate with his best friend.

A fun night out spirals into a terrible series of events, and Bagley is slightly brain damaged. Even worse, he begins to integrate into society. People listen to him love the very things he once hated; terrible decisions begin to amply in the wake of his new-found positivism.

As Bagley fights against the threat of his former self resurfacing, the earth might just explode under the weight of its own garbage.

This may be the most offensive and darkest book you'll ever read. Bagley hopes so.

The Ghosts Of Montgomery

Stuie Parker

A run-down house in Depression-Era America holds many secrets. Behind the ornate door lies love, lies, revenge....and the dead...

The town of Montgomery holds a secret or two. Lies and murder hide underneath the scratched veneer of summer days and Pumpkin Pie.

Billy Beaumont (Purveyor of Precipitation and Maker of Rain) and his niece Rebecca have arrived in town looking for a quick buck. When offered the chance to hole up in the elegant but abandoned Marvel estate, they consider it quite fortunate...

On the other side of town, Clara LeRose is haunted by a restless spirit..and by the town matriach, Sara Quinn. Someone with an ax to grind.

The pieces begin to unravel as souls, living and dead, are drawn slowly, inexorably, toward the house.

And SomewhereNowhere, Alberta King counts the buttercups...

The Apple Of Clareza

Stuart Parker

It is the time of God's judgement. In the midst of the bigger picture, these are stories of ordinary people in an extraordinary world..

It is the time of the Apocalpyse. Apples have fallen from a holy tree in Jerusalem, a magical secret kept for thousands of years. Slowly and inexorably, they find their way into the lives of the ordinary. They hold the key to a vision of clarity, and an ultimate destiny that will free them from purgatory. As each apple is eaten, doors begin to open as they examine their new place in the world, discovering the only uncertain undiscovered country: Love.

As one life touches another, and that life others, the line between salvation and damnation becomes blurred.

And between each story lies a snapshot into the bigger picture...

What Is. What was. What could be, what should never be. What is lost and what is found.

Were it not for the immortality of the soul, how could we believe in Snowflakes?

Thanks for looking at 'Clareza'. It needs a makeover, at the moment I'm making 'Marvel' better and then I will move on to the other. Wasn't too happy with the Nazi resolution, and the proceeding story has been trumped by a better idea. I'll work on it! :) xx view book

Ooh, it's all very dark and brooding. Perfect. I think its a very intelligent read that, as a good book should, asks a lot of its reader. Extremely well-written and the pacing is excellent. Backed. view book

Hi, It was my own creation, although obviously with the tree of life in mind. It developed as McGuffin that could make things a bit complicated for people at the end of days. :) view book

Thanks for backing! Your book is a lovely read. 'Unreliable narrator' is always a good thing as it means you can shift gears throughout the story and not necessarily consider continuity an issue! It's well written and enjoyable. Stuart Parker Ghosts Of Marvel/Apple Of Clareza view book
