After Theon sacrifices me at the fire pit of the Byblos Baal, how can I be here to tell my story?
Before Aribaal can access adulthood, Theon offers him as burnt sacrifice to Baal, to free Byblos from plague. His sister Dido rescues him.
Aribaal no longer exists. He must learn why he lives, who saved him and what he is to do. Aribaal senses someone greater than Baal protects him. Is there a being greater than Baal?
He goes to Egypt then Carthage, ruled by his sister. Aeneas of Troy is shipwrecked. Aribaal rescues him. Aeneas and Dido soon marry.
His nemesis, Theon, rules all religion at Carthage. Aribaal comes under threat when Theon claims Aribaal’s newborn son for Baal. Aribaal decides to defy Baal and flees to Etruria.
Theon pursues him, claiming to be his father. Though unwilling to believe it, Aribaal knows his appearance may support this claim. He chooses to cross the unexplored ocean to find direction for his future. Theon decides to go with him. Aribaal accepts.
