about me

Hi Everyone,

I'm a part-time English tutor who has taken time out to study again (MA) Writing has always been my passion and although I have been published before (picture books) it has been an awfully long time. Children have grown and left and now it's my time!!

i know my book has editing to do but really looking for overall impressions from serious readers. Please don't give me wonderful reviews in order to receive a backing. I take my writing seriously and criticism in any form will be more helpful. For those that have commented so far - thank you so much.

Please note I am only interested in reading Young Adults although I have made a few exceptions.

favourite books

Frankenstein
Jane Eyre
Tolkein
Twilight
Skellig
All of Stephen King
RECOMMENDED BOOKS FROM AUTHONOMY:
Selkie Dreams by Kristin Gleeson - beautifully written.
The Withering by Joshua Jacobs - unfinished but enthralling!

Crossover Magic

Deborah A Jackson

Nanny B smiled secretly from under her covers, listening as the house creaked contentedly. ‘Magic had at last returned home.

Crossover magic is the story of a fifteen year old girl, who lost her Mum tragically to cancer. She finds herself in a world without her confidante, friend, mentor and stabiliser. Without her, her world is turned upside down. Her Dad tries and fails to fill the gap, her best friend doesn’t understand her, the school hates her and she copes with the grief but hurting herself. She is a girl without a future or so she thinks, until Nanny B takes her to her ramshackle old house in Somerset.
Nanny B believes in magic, the magic of healing. Her resentment at being sent there soon turns to a tale of discovery when she finds her Mother again in the form of a diary. Her mother, Shaunna Le Fey is fifteen years old and together they journey through adolescence, bigotry and healing. They even bump into each other along the way!

YARG REVIEW: A short one as I'm under the weather but will definitely come back to this. Wow - what a beginning - fast, good imagery. Really frustrated that the could call the words out to the Oak tree at the end - which is good - builds up tension. I gather their group is 'Seelie.' Good ending... view book

Yarg review: A short review I'm afraid as I'm feeling under the weather but will come back to it later. I loved the visual imagery especially the way she traced the top of the grass with her fingertips. Some stories don't take you into the setting but yours did. At the end - I wonder if it should... view book

So glad you reminded me - wow - your writing is excellent - I would change your status - you are a writer. I love your descriptions of sausages and mean high heels etc. Vivid imagery is so important when writing and you managed to juxtapose physical and mental imagery perfectly. A gift not many w... view book

YARG REVIEW: HAHA! After a long day, I really enjoyed this and laughed my socks off at Jessup. Most importantly, you write like a YA, nothing worse than reading something that you can tell is from a grown up! Vivid imagery and description and language is perfect. You take the reader into the st... view book

YARG REVIEW Love the title and synopsis = what a great idea. I live Stella Sykes and found the descriptive imagery of her red hair hilarious. However, in the UK don't they normally say ' Ginge,' rather than Ginger...to be even more derogatory? The facebook status and descriptions of character we... view book
