about me

A pleasant-smelling English Boy living on a Mountainside on a little Scottish Island with a problematic book obsession. I have a degree in Botany and have done lots of different kinds of work that always seem to involve smelling flowers.
Ruben Ascending is a complete and finished work though only the first section is loaded on Authonomy. I am busy on my next work. There are many writers that I admire; the most important to me are the ones who project a sense of wonder, beauty or vulgarity into my world, like Borges, Ishiguro and Kundera.
It isn’t just books that I love, I am also distracted by good coffee, late flowering roses, the music of Vaughan-Williams, sincerity, burlesque dancers and French men, but that’s a whole other conversation.

I won’t back anything without reading it first, so please be patient if awaiting reciprocal attention.

Dawn, Such a beautiful concept for a book. Your prose has wonderful flow and elegance perfect for young adults who i presume to be its target audience. I love the tactile and sensory pleaure of your text. I am forwarding it to a friend who isn't on authonomy who keeps horses and who i think (like... view book

Zan, This work buzzes with creativity, not just in the language but in the ideas. The writing is so lyrical and poetic and accomplished that i have no place commenting or quantifying its value. The poetry verses have a purity and elegance that reminds me a little of elongated Japanese Haiku. A ... view book

There is something special about the way an interest in (or connection with) the characters is sparked so instantaneously, i don't know how you've done that but it works. There is no clutter in the language just instant access to the inner thoughts/concerns of Gerard and it allows you into the stor... view book

The pitch made me wonder if i might find the story a bit congested (i tend to go for the Mann/Proust type of books where very little happens plot-wise) but so far (I have taken a good bite but need to come back for more,) this has not been the case, it does have a kind of unwieldy nature to it, but... view book
