about me

Hey there! So, how much more international does it get? An American eating Italian food and drinking German beer in a Paris restaurant. Oui oui!
<-----

I'm a father of 3, husband of 1 and IT manager of dozens. But its the 3 and 1 that are most important to me.

Since grade school, I've dreamt of being a writer. Not a technical writer (which has resulted in several publications, both internal and external), but rather one of fiction.

Teens years were filled with fantasy and sci-fi. As I've grown older, I found I most respect an everyday hero who overcomes real-world problems. A man or woman who risks everything to save the people they love the most. And that's the backbone of my first fiction novel - ARCHER. Fiction in terms of the story, but true-life in the personality and circumstances facing the protagonist.

Upcoming novels - when they're written - will likely fall in the same genre (thriller, crime, real-life fiction), and may even include the same main character - Sam Archer.

--------------------
Thanks to all those who backed ARCHER, eventually placing it on the Ed's Desk. I truly appreciate that so many felt ARCHER was deserving of a critique from HC.

With a busy job and even busier family, I like to wind down at night with a fast-reading, sometimes mindless thriller (Harlen Coben, David Baldacci, James Patterson, Richard North Patterson, Nelson DeMille).

I find time for less-commercial work on occasion (such as 1776 by David McCullough) and grew up on the classics (LOTR, Narnia, Sawyer, Copperfield, Tarzan, etc).

Boss losing his mind? Eh. Jailed without evidence? Uhhh... Screw with my family? Damn. Here we go.

(complete novel at 100K words, only 20% uploaded on this site)

Heroes are born under extraordinary circumstances. Without failure in the face of those same circumstances, there would be no heroes in this world. Just as there would be no good without evil, no right without wrong, no up without down.

Sam Archer gets the chance to be a hero, and he couldn't be more pissed off about it. He just wanted to quietly rebuild his life after a messy divorce. Stable job, comfortable relationship and happy well-adjusted kids. That was it.

Then he finds his coworker dead, and his boss starts raving about kidnapping, murder and conspiracy theories. Wonderful.

As Archer's life crumbles around him, and his family's lives are in danger, he knows what has to be done.

But he has no idea how.

And that's the most helpless feeling in the world.

Lucie, sorry it took so long to get back here. I've been trying to finish up some editing and had to take a few days off the site. From what I read, it seems to be that this book would be perfect for video gamers to play. The terminology is really only geared to that crowd, and the idea of virt... view book

Wow, that's quite a task you've given yourself here. I'm not sure why you started with Chap 10, unless you're going to count backrwards to 1. but then you'd have to go back in time, so... Anyway, the writing is definitely strong and topic is interesting. I'm not a huge fan of the cynical 'tho... view book

Terri, this is an interesting read. More of a blog than a novel. You're a very likeable person and I'm glad you see the bigger picture in everything you do. Keep on keeping on. Sorry it took so long to get back to you to read this. It wasn't personal, more just me taking longer to get through... view book

Oh god, Doug, this is hilarious!! I love it! Sorry it took so long to get here, but I'm glad I finally did. Nothing has made me chuckle louder than the action going on in this little town. Funny, funny stuff. I would have like to hear how they got the lady out of the tree though - a bit disap... view book

Katrina, I saw your note on the updated Chap 1 and clicked over to check it out. From my recollection of the last version, I agree that this one is much funnier, at least until the jogging bit where I (sorry to admit) again glossed over it. You wrote this for girls, so as a 41-yr old male you have... view book
