about me

Hi,

I'm an Aussie and used to be a Physicist and an Information Scientist. I am now trying to become a Writer and Editor in the speculative fiction genre and am consequently very excited about the concepts behind this website.

My main work in progress is a 3,4 maybe 5 part fantasy scifi cross genre series involving alternate worlds and time travel. A sample of 'Engelian Adventures: Transgressions' is available here and is being serialised on my personal web site at www.phillberrie.com.au/Fiction

I did have another novella published here, 'The Changeling Detective', but I have removed it as I found that the two books were diluting my ratings. The story in its entirety is also available at www.phillberrie.com.au/Fiction

I also write non-fiction and as of 2008 I began writing a regular column called ‘Reality Bit(e)s' on the 'A Writer Goes On A Journey' website, an Australian Speculative Fiction Writing Community. These articles are about things I think speculative fiction writers should know about. Google this if you are interested, but I also mirror these articles on my own web site.

Oh, and I also edit and critique. Though I'm a newbie here I'm a veteran on the Online Writers Workshop, moderate a Yahoo critiquing group and am the resident editor on the 'A Writer Goes On A Journey' web site mentioned above. I also do it professionally as a 'continuity editor', but I don't think I'm supposed to talk about that here.

NOTE: FROM NOW ON I PLAN TO CONCENTRATE ON CRITIQUING THE SPECULATIVE FICTION GENRE (I.E. FANTASY AND SCIENCE FICTION). IF YOUR STORY ISN'T SPECULATIVE IN SOME WAY THEN I'M NOT INTERESTED, SO PLEASE DON'T ASK, OTHERWISE GO FOR IT.
