Chapters from my Nanowrimo 2011 novel K.D. are POSTED. Still learning the new logistics on here. Any help?

If you participate(d) in Nano or want to be writing buddies, contact me and I'll make it happen. No offense, but Nano alumni get higher priority.

OTHER NEWS:
Nov 29, 2011
Kindergarten Dropout is here in parts. It's totally different than my other novels, but rough as ever with this first draft. =) Though aimed at a younger audience, it should have wide appeal. Think of it as a more modern-day version of Ramona Quimby set in Arizona.

Due to NaNoWriMo approaching, all other projects are moved aside to endure another November writing marathon. 50,000 words before 12:01am December 1st for the win. The plan is to get as far as I possibly can with a new novel.

Dec 2010
The Alpha novel [FIRST DRAFT] is finished thanks to NaNoWriMo 2010. If you REALLY want to be a test reader for it, contact me via email. The "Geenie" novel still continues.

MISC. INFO:
If I receive a backing or message, I will respond. You won't be forgotten if you exercise patience (I know it's the internet, but patience can exist there also).

ALPHA's response was better than expected as a whole; since it deviates from the expected: self-contained chapters, multiple POVs, and unspoken elements of mystery. In a word, THANKS for all who supported it and actually enjoyed reading a piece of it.

Kindergarten Dropout

M. Miller

My NaNoWriMo '11 novel (rough/first draft)
A young girl flees the last day of school after convinced she failed kindergarten by a trio of bullies.

[ This novel contains whimsy, tangents, onomatopoeia, repeated phrases, made up words, and a kindergartner. Reader discretion is advised. ]

Kadie was planning to have the best day ever! It was the last day of school and she was ready to celebrate. Unfortunately, that feeling didn't even last until the morning bell.

Some older children taunted her through the playground's gated divider and convinced poor Kadie she had flunked: dooming her to suffer the humiliation of repeating kindergarten.

Light on words and heavy on tears, the distraught girl flees; not only from the safe haven of the grade's playground, but from school itself. Far from rational, she walks the neighborhood; truant: eventually working towards a master plan [for a six year-old] while walking blocks and encountering people along the way.

My NaNoWriMo '09 novel (rough/first draft) - experimental
Five soldiers examine their lives and military service; recalling missions and memorable moments.

Soldiers recount their time amidst Middle Eastern turmoil. These five work from their pre-service beginnings to enlistment and experiences while serving during OEF (Operation Enduring Freedom).

More a series of short stories than a traditional novel; making a larger tale of camaraderie, tribulations, emotion, and scars.

Crazy Mama, After having Tryin To Figure It Out on my shelf over a year, I figured now was the time to finally give it a deeper peek. Honestly, I didn't read the last chapter to find out if anything was figured out on your end, but I did read enough to get a general idea of the tone. It's sad... view book

Paul Alan Gunneman, After finally getting a chance to give it a longer peek, I found the CJ the Angel collection to be great. Coincidentally I read the Christmas story. It was nice to see a simple concept and what consequences happened. It was also nice to reiterate the fact even though what C... view book

This is a very brilliant concept and has a lot of potential. It's very easy to see all the forethought and effort which has gone into this book (even with no pictures). The writing is very polished and seems to be just easy enough for a kid to follow; but not have the stigma of reading a "baby b... view book

On a personal note, this book has more than I can ask for. From the small bit I read there was a reference to my home state, family name, and even a reference to Star Wars. From my POV, it has it all. On a less biased note... The progression and the writing style seems put together well. It d... view book

It's no wonder you are edging so close to the top with your story. It is well-written and has a good pacing; giving the reader confidence the story is heading somewhere. Hopefully more people can hop on the bandwagon; pushing your novel to the gold star. view book
