about me

I am a mother of three who loves to read and loves to write, when I get the chance to do so. I began working on Spell in November (I think) and a friend who discovered Authonomy (same friend has read Spell in it's entirety, so far) suggested that I upload part of the book to the site. I am glad that I did because I have received some great comments and useful criticism, both for which I am thankful and appreciative. Readers know best!

Taking care of the kids consumes most of my day and unless the little one is napping I am banned from the internet as she's a little spoiled and requires all of my attention. After they are in bed, I have my "me" time for a few hours during which I am working on Spell or on Authonomy. If you back Spell, I back your book. Some books I read on my own without being requested to do so, but if you ask me to read, I will. May not read entire portions that are uploaded, but I will read some of it. If you ask me to comment, I will. I am an overtly nice person though and not sure that I could consciously provide constructive criticism appropriately. But if I like what you've written I will tell you. Sometimes I back books and do not leave comments if I like the title, cover or pitch. Just hope that no one sees this as me spamming or expecting backings in return, because I do not. There are several exceptional books on this site and many incredible people as well, just glad that Spell and I are a part of it!

"Spell" is my fourth attempt at a novel, and is the one I am most passionate about.

"Spell" is now complete at approximately 80,000 words. Now the self-editing process begins!

April Ikner

Madelynn, a teenage witch, finds herself in the midst of true love and catastrophic events that change her life forever

Madelynn Sinclair, a freshman in college, who believes that magic, especially true love, belongs only in the midst of a fairy tale, finds herself not only meeting the love of her life, Wesley, but on the eve of her 18th birthday, rendered with magical powers inherited from a long line of witches. She is faced with conflict when she learns of her true love's secret. Is their love real? Is it fate? Or is it completely out of nature's hands? As this family of witches encounter a series of evil events they use the only thing aside from love that can save them: magic.

What can I even say about this...I have just finished reading chapter one and your words are beautiful, telling, and so intense that I felt every ounce of what you wrote on that paper (or computer screen...) You have an amazing way with words and imagery that I can only say how much I am drawn into ... view book

I'm drawn in - can't wait to read more. I'll comment in messages - but you are off to a wonderfully compelling start and I am sure that there is much more to come - your writing style is excellent! :) April view book

I just finished your first chapter - AWESOME!!! I can't wait to come back this evening and read more. I love Lex, even though he is whining a little at this point - when he is now a superhero peeling back the metal after Ryan...great! I love superhero stories, I guess it is a product of having yo... view book
