about me

I am a retired legal assistant. Writing is and always has been a great love of mine. I also enjoy bird watching and gardening. The book I have written is a true account of the death of my grandson, Dane, and the miraculous things God has done since then. It tells of how God networked my life with the life of a couple who stopped to try to help Dane. The Lord sent dragonflies in miraculous ways to comfort me in my deep grief. I have pictures of a large, perfectly golden dragonfly and a brilliantly orange dragonfly He sent to my backyard, two days apart. The amazing thing about these dragonflies is that each of them had what looked like a streak of light on their backs. A friend described them as looking as though they were in an x-ray machine. God sent them to me in miraculous ways. If you have lost a beloved child or grandchild, may you find comfort from our story.

And God Sent the Dragonflies

Elsie (Mimi) Spurlock, Bruce a....

This is a true story of how God used the death of my grandson to bring into His fold another prodigal son.

Bruce and Mary were coming from Bruce's father's funeral when they passed the accident. My beloved grandson, Dane, lay on the side of the road, dying from a motorcycle accident. As they passed the scene of the accident they were compelled to turn around and try to minister aid to Dane. The accident happened on Bruce Lane. What are the chances of a man named Bruce just happening to be passing that road on the night of Dane's accident? In the months to come we would begin to understand God's extreme networking of our lives. And when God whispered to my spirit that Dane's fruit would come through his death, I wondered how that could possibly be. Then, in His powerful and multi-faceted way, He began to do things that would only be possible for Him. He sent confirmations in most unusual ways. He sent dragonflies, over and over, to dance over my head and invade my life in a way that no one doubted was a miracle. Once I had asked Him to show me dragonflies again at my grandson's grave. He didn't. I told Him that was okay. When I got home, dragonflies were everywhere in my yard!

Margaret, I love the way you close this chapter with a poem that strongly probes the question of how we can experience such marvels and even doubt that God hears our prayers. Well done! view book

What a wonderful way to draw in your reader! You've set the stage and now your reader has an opportunity to search his/her own heart and answer the question for themselves: What if these things are actually true? I already know the answer is yes, but I will continue reading because I know I will ... view book

David, while this is not the type of story I write or read, you are a very good writer and draw in your readers from the vert start of Madeline's story. Very good opening. view book

Malc, it was a little difficult for me to keep up with the activity of all the different characters. I think you could have a great story if you work on it a little more. It might be beneficial if you alow the reader to follow one character at a time in more detail rather than changing characters ... view book
