about me

Lived in Canada most of my life. Born in Scotland and never lost my love for the UK - it's in my blood and in my heart. Thanks to Linda Watson who has renewed the hope of my vision - moving back "home" and opening up a wee guest house. Other deep passions in my life are my faith, my family, my writing, the ocean & the rain. I enjoy writing around real life situations and build them into stories. I read something every day whether it be a book on my real shelf, or a chapter from one on my Authonomy Book Shelf.

Other personal works in progress:
A Spring Rain (now on site) - sequel to Jenny's Rain
My authobiography: Sometimes Life Has Stairs
A poetic collection
A book of short stories: Heartbeats

Please note that I don't back books just for points or to be popular; I back them because I like them or believe in their value. May not respond to everyone, but that doesn't mean I don't like your work. We are all working hard at what we believe in - so all the best to everyone.

Favourite books on Authonomy thus far:
Milkshake by Matt Hammond
Breath in the Dark by Jane Hersey
Silent in the Shadows by Jane Hersey

A Spring Rain

Kate Buchanan

The newleyweds' memorable and passionate journey through the UK is hindered by unexpected turns. Their relationship changes. Will it survive?

Book Two in the Jenny Series

A breathtaking descriptive account of Yorkshire, the west of England and Scotland will take you on a trip that you wish you had actually taken. Don's passion for Scotland grows at an alarming pace. He just doesn't know when to pull back. His enthusiasm coupled with his keen sense of business, overwhelms Jen to where she finds herself losing interest. Their dream is becoming more of a business venture. It has lost the wholesome passion that they first felt for the UK and each other. Jen is physically, emotionally and mentally exhausted. Will they be able to rekindle their love and survive the transitions ahead?

Back home in Winnipeg, trouble is rearing its ugly head. Mr. B. tries to douse the flames before Don and Jen return, but without success. They will have to deal with that and much more when they come back.

Don and Jen's love of Scotland in particular takes them on a ride they could never have imagined.

Jenny's Rain

Kate Buchanan

Too young to grieve, too sweet to be overlooked. Strangers can become friends. Some you don't see coming and wish you had. Enter love.

Jenny, a happy, carefree young woman with a loving family, makes friends easily, but discovers that they all don't all last. Recovering from the shocks of her early life, Jenny is forced to trust time and again.

A stranger begins to watch her every move, but she is oblivious to his nearness. He sets the stage for their meeting, but unaware of Jenny's scars, he comes on too strong. Jenny is smitten, but scared. There is another stranger, twisted, cruel.

Jenny's passion for rain is encountered in so many ways that she wonders if life will ever stop spinning. Can she trust again, enough to let love back into her heart?

Rain is...an inward passion that pours through you when you love someone deeply and intensely.
Rain is...losing that person, never again to hold or see.
Rain is...the pain of grieving that seems to flow like an endless river
Rain is...a hope that never ceases in the face of everything sad

Jenny's Rain is...all this...and more...

Riveting storyline - will do my best to have a read, but backed it based on the pitch alone. Sounds like one I would read and will draw in a large thriller audience. All the best - Kate (Jenny's Rain & A Spring Rain) view book

Thank you so very much for taking the time to critique Jenny's Rain. I will certainly have a look at the comments you made. They were encouraging. The target reader group would be adult/ young adult. I wasn't targeting teens at all as the story does get into some more mature (but tactfully written) ... view book

I was intrigued by other comments so I have now read the first two chapters. Excellent fast-paced dialogue indeed. Paints the intimacy of the scenes. All the best - Kate Buchanan view book
