about me

I am a young adult fantasy writer. I am a young adult fantasy writer because I am a young adult who writes fantasy. Or at least I still consider myself and anyone else under the age of 25 to be a young adult. And will continue to do so until I decide 25 is too close and need to raise the upper limit. lol.

*is not making plans to remain a young adult forever*

Anyway I’m a Creative Writing Graduate from the University of Winchester. I first started telling my own stories to my little brother when I was five in order to pass the time on the journey to school. Ever since then writing to me has been about making other people happy. Stories should bring some form of pleasure to people. I want people to read my work and enjoy it rather than talk about how clever they think I am. (But if they do that too I’m not going to complain).

Over the last 4 years I have complete three different series of books. The first is 6 books long. The second is 7. The third 4. And I still have ideas for more books!

I am currently working on a new series called Realms & Reality; the opening to the first book 'Zero Conformity' is up on this site. I have just finished two extensive edits of this series which is currently 7 books long and I've just started work on writing number 8. I have had lots of support for this book so far and hope people will continue to support it all the way to the editors desk.

The rest of my writerly time is now taken up with editing my 4 book series Shadows of Light. I have posted the opening chapters of the first book 'Broken Before Use' onto the site and am open to any advice people want to give me about how I can improve it. I expect to be working a lot on this series over the next few months so don't be afraid to tell me what you really think.

Authonomy had motivated me no end since I found the site. I love it as much as I love writing. I will happily swap reads with anyone who asks but since I am working now I may not reply to all messages sent to me. I will return all backs but will only comment on someone else's work when I have something meaningful to say. I wish everyone out there the best of luck. We are the future of writing, now we just need to get the rest of the world to see it. lol.

Zero Conformity

ILA Golden

Out in space and completely removed from their own reality, life for Catilin, James and Kisara is about to get complicated.

‘Zero Conformity’ is the first part of a series called ‘Realms & Reality’. The series is primarily set in an alternative reality out of temporal sync with the rest of the multi-verse. It is the comparative ‘future’ where space travel is common place and advancements in technology have caused more than a few questionable moral practices to occur.

James Wheeler and Kisara Tucker are from our world and time. So when they and their mysterious friend Catilin find themselves onboard an extraterrestrial trans-reality spaceship, its more than just the abduction they have to get their heads around. Things quickly change from bad to worse as a deadly virus threatens Catilin’s life and her friends become determined to find the cure in time.

After the vessel they’re on comes under attack a burning room lands them with Ouza, a potential ally in this strange new world. But is the enigmatic Ouza really all he claims to be or will the secret he’s keeping prove to be the friends’ downfall?

As life in space becomes more complicated, home starts to seem further and further away.

Broken Before Use

ILA Golden

Obin Johnson has a secret. But it’s not the secret he thought he had.

So who wants to be normal anyway?

The situation in Maio should have been easy. Obin and his Step-Father should have been preparing to hand things over to their recruits and move on to their next assignment. But something isn’t right. Attacks are on the increase and Obin is finding it increasingly difficult to keep his dark urges at bay.

So when his encounter with the enigmatic leader of the Daynasen shakes Obin to the foundations of his closely guarded self-control, he can’t help but feel drawn. There’s just something about Dixon Blakely which drives all of Obin’s worst instincts into overdrive. And what’s more he’s starting to like it.

When Obin goes missing, his Step-Father is forced to send his recruits out on a rescue mission under the leadership of Jade Hamilton. But is the star recruit the only one with a secret or is no one on Jade’s team really who they appear to be?

When are lies better than the truth? When the truth means you’re broken.

Frist 21 chapters posted only. This book is complete. Word count approx 83,000.

Jack and Rose both come off as nice strong characters within this narrative. You open with the clear sense that Jack is longing for adventure i.e. wanted to be an Indian Jones type archaeologist/ love of small flying crafts etc. I like the lively nature of his personality and the way the narrative r... view book

I'm probably the only person on Authonomy who can say they've had a personal reading of this story from the author. Yay for finally getting it up. Anyway now onto the serious reviewer part. I've loved the concept of this story since the moment you first told me about it. The way you breathe life ... view book

I like the way you use a smaller point font for the ‘little voice’ it creates a nice visual impact on the page which draws the reader in with curiosity. The way you’ve dramatised the chase in the opening chapter works well. Her thoughts are fast and the information comes out in time with those thoug... view book

You certainly get your protagonist’s personality across well. This is her story being told her way and I think the concept and title are really cool. Just one small thing. Um... why does she first introduce her children by reference of ‘smart kids’? It struck me as really weird you did that. I... view book

Your style has a nice feel for the genre of the piece you’re writing. It’s smooth and flows effortlessly with the story. I liked the way you opened chapter 1 with a dream. Or rather part dream. It brings the readers right into Shadowolf’s mindset. You then establish the world he’s living in witho... view book
