about me

I am 52 years of age and have been writing since I left university in Kent in 1979. The novel is my preferred medium of expression though I have written comedy pilots (unsuccessfully) and spent some time being a freelance journalist writing for The Times, Independent and Guardian.

I have written two novels greeted with wild indifference by the industry but the second, REAPER, was lauded by everyone who read the transcript so I took a chance on self publication. Having printed 2,000 I was thrilled when Waterstones took an interest and stocked it on a limited basis, particularly in Midlands stores - it's set in Derby and London. I have sold all but 120 copies so the book is still in print and available on the web and I've supplied customers in America, Ireland, Switzerland, Australia and South Africa. All reviews on Amazon and Play.com are 5 star so I'm very pleased I took the chance.

I am currently working on a sequel named THE DISCIPLE which was launched nationally on August 19th 2010.

Reaper: Coming soon to a famil....

Steven Dunne

A combination of Silence of the Lambs and The Poet set in Derby. A long dormant serial killer strikes again and the hunt is on.

Detective Inspector Damen Brook has seen it all before - so much that he has fled from London to the backwater of Derby leaving behind his marriage, his child and very nearly his sanity, to wind down his once promising career in the peace of the Peak District. But one winter’s night, Brook is confronted by a killer he hunted many years before - The Reaper - a man who slaughters families in their homes then disappears without trace. Now the search must begin again. To find his killer Brook must discover why The Reaper has followed him to his new life in Derby, why he’s started killing again and what, if anything, connects the butchered families? In the process, Brook must face his own demons by revisiting the previous investigation and confronting a past that damaged him and destroyed his family.

Beautifully crafted by a writer at the height of his powers. Humour, pathos, insight and underlying all a character who gives us the courage to live with and struggle against self destruction. view book

Hi Rod. Thought I'd take a look at Sinema as you were nice enough to comment on my book Reaper and I like what I see. I'm a movie buff myself and thought the quotes were well chosen and let us take a peek at the killer's(?) mania. I've only got a few chapters in but want to read more already. Th... view book
