about me

Pride and Joy is not, as many people think, about me but it is a weave of modern and historical fact and fiction and includes subjects that I am passionate about - history, antiques, art, classic literature, wild and unspoiled beaches, child psychology, Hollywood Films and Icons, PR versus Privacy for Celebrities, Beauty, Fashion, Modelling and Religion. Britain, most notably England, is probably the only country is the world where people are too embarrassed to mention God and openly discuss religion whereas in Europe, America, Africa and many countries, God and religion are a part of everyday life and conversation - yet we have all these churches and sent out all those missionaries to convert the rest of the world...

This book is an unusual mix of all of these things and so can appeal to a wide variety of people. I had originally thought that this book would be enjoyed by any female from nineteen to ninety but what has suprised me is that men have equally enjoyed it - which is great!

Pride and Joy is complete and is already self-published and available from the internet and bookstores. It is raising money for a youth theatre charity, Patron Dame Judi Dench. It has had fantastic press reviews and wonderful comments on Authonomy, but it is only my effort and I would be happy to re-write it. What I would really love is to have a publishing deal as an official endorsement from the establishment that I can actually do this for a career. Writing is all I have ever wanted to do.

Please send a message if you would like me to comment on your book and I will put it on my Watchlist. I look forward to hearing your comments.

Pride and Joy

Dawn Rose

Because it's never too late to say sorry

The Catholic meaning of Joy is Jesus-Others-Yourself. After they lost her mother ten years ago Joy has worked hard to replace her, looking after her father and their home beside the beach in isolation on the wild Norfolk coast.

As she approaches her 21st birthday, Joy is content and wants her life to remain exactly as it is, but when her life falls apart she believes that God is punishing her for being such a bad person. A nun tells Joy that God has torn down her defences because unless she faces up to the past and learns to like herself then she cannot hope to find happiness in the future. Follow Joy on her journey of self-discovery to an unknown destiny.

THE SYSTEM WON'T ACCEPT ME PUTTING UP MORE THAN THE FIRST SEVEN CHAPTERS IN ONE FILE SO IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN CHAPTERS 1 - 7 THEN PLEASE LOOK AT THE EXTRA FILE FOR PRIDE AND JOY I HAVE PUT UP BUT IF YOU DO READ THEM THEN COULD YOU PLEASE COMMENT AND BACK ON THIS ONE SO THAT ALL ARE ON ONE BOOK AND THE OTHER IS JUST FOR REFERENCE. MANY THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Pride and Joy for the interest....

Dawn Rose

This is for anyone wanting to read more of the chapters.

I had problems with the system and couldn't upload any more on the original entry. If I uploaded from scratch then all comments and placings would be lost. Could you please make any comments or backings on the other, original Pride and Joy entry. Authors had asked me for other chapters but the system still won't allow me to upload any more than this in the one file so these are chapter 1 - 7 for your interest.

Hello, Jeff. At last, here I am. I read your synopsis first so I understand what is to come and therefore why the characters are cast as they are. You've captured them well and I anticipate that fate, menace and bravery lie ahead which will change the course of history. I know enough about the f... view book

Hello, Matt. This is exceptionally good. There is so much within your story and its surprising when you suddenly switch to a different character's life which must all come together at some point. I understand Jerimiah's worry about that success in selling God's word has led to a lack of faith and... view book

Hello, Cas. I really enjoyed your story, it reads so naturally, without any jarring or flaw. I connected with your characters, their ambitions and the dangers. Your fight scenes, injuries and treatment are excellent. Taran is now in even more danger. I commend the fact that the evil bully is so... view book

Hello, Patrick. I read all of it and I was frequently laughing out loud. Its hysterically funny and I love it. This should be a children's comedy film with all the well-timed domino effect of the people being hurt who were trying to hurt him and he continues blithely. At times I could anticipate... view book
